Mostly based off of Chapters 34 and 35 of the book. John comes to call on Mr. Hale right after Mrs. Hale's death, and the Police Inspector comes to question Margaret while he's there. She's so overwhelmed by everything going on that she passes out. In the book, no one finds her, but this is something I always wished had happened here. Slightly AU. More summary inside!

The shock of sudden death of Mr. Hale crushes Mr. Bell, rendering him unable to bring the sad news to Margaret himself. He is forced to delegate the terrible duty to the only one he can entrust it: his friend and tenant Mr. Thornton.

New to Milton, Mr Hale encourages his daughter Margaret to develop a friendship with Fanny Thornton, his student's sister. He believes that the acquaintance will be beneficial to both ladies. John Thornton, the handsome Master of Marlborough Mills, also has high hopes for the relationship. But for reasons of his own...

This story will explore what would happen if Margaret finds Mr. Thornton after their confrontation at the exhibition allowing them to develop a tentative post-proposal friendship. Both book and mini-series based.

Both Margaret's Mother and Father have passed away. Her Aunt is still in Italy and her Cousin in Greece. She is left all alone in Milton. How will Thornton rescue her, and will she inadvertantly rescue him in return?

What if Aunt Shaw was delayed, and Mr. Bell did not stay, and Margaret chose to stay in Milton for several weeks after the death of her father? What if the grief was more than she could handle alone?

Margaret, living in London after the death of her parents, is invited to accompany Mr Bell to Helstone. With high expectations she journeys to her childhood home not realising that her visit would result in an unexpected meeting. A meeting that could prove the most important of her life.

What if Mr. Bell left his fortune to Mr. Thornton instead of Margaret. How would that have changed the classic tale North and South. T for later chapters.

Mrs. Thornton awaits her son's return. With mills failed and house to be given up she expects nothing but more grief in the future. Mostly series based. Extrapolating the train scene on the subsequent behavior of Mr. Thornton and Miss Hale.

Maria Thornton is the child of her parents' two worlds and their only daughter. Her somewhat standard childhood has given way to a life led by an unusual young lady who scorns social conventions and follows her heart, wherever it may lead. Even if it leads to one who will not return her affection.

This story begins as Margaret visits the Thorntons just before leaving Milton. What might have happened if Margaret had been a bit more forthright with her feelings? Please R&R...shall I continue?

Based on the TV mini-series, this story takes place after dinner but before the end of the evening. I always felt there was a scene missing that bridges the argument between Margaret and Mr. Thorton at the dinner party to him expressing is love for her after the riot the next day.

Dainty Edith makes a visit to Milton.

At the last meeting of Mr. Bell and Mr. Thornton Mr. Bell is a little more diplomatic than in the series. Mostly series based.

I always thought there should be a scene at the end of the miniseries where we actually saw things get resolved outright between Margaret and Mr. Thornton. I am expanding on this idea after a great beginning. Reviews are most welcome!

Mr. John Thornton of Milton is walking the mill yard when he notices a carriage in front of his home and Dr. Donaldson emerging from the front door.
