Jack is prepared to return to England, but is surprised at Akiko's choice to accompany him. Two more of his friends aboard the ship with another concerned feeling, he bows to his guardian Masamoto. In the end, they all get to England, but are they truly safe?

After seven years in Japan and battling the seas Jack Fletcher has returned home from England seeking his young sister Jess. But his welcome home isn't as sweet as he thought it would be.

Set at the begining of the first book, this follows the thoughts and events leading up to the death of the sailor who hit the deck next to Jack during the opening storm.

A short fic I wrote, takes place before the Way of the Warrior and tells part of Akiko's story she realates to Jack in the Way of the Dragon in more detail. Angsty. Rated T for character death.
