Sorry to hear about your da. I know how it feels to loose someone two but to stop doing what you love for years isn't the answer. When I lost my brother during high school I would spend hours just imagining his voice reading the stories I wrote and saying that I could do better. It felt weird not having him around to pick with me but people die we either let it consume us or we move on. That may sound cruel but its the truth. Doesn't mean that part of them won't always be with us but dead is dead and you just got to deal with that.

I like you're fic so far. I think it's great that you've got a male OC,as most stories with original characters are female. It's a bit ironic how a story which save for arwen and eowyn has always been a boys fantasty world, has turned out to have such a large female following who wish to actually live in that world. I blame Orlando Bloom, but maybe that's just me.
Having read so much fluff and such, it was a relief to find someone else who while engaging a strong female character as a possible focal point, has not forgotten the laws of that world, nor the realites that go along with such a midevil culture. Your reference to her being left to become a barmaid, or being seen as baggage was realistic.
I never appreciated how so many people seem to forget that women no matter how skilled in warfare would never have been willingly taken into battle, or even somewhere with the risk of such a thing.
I'm a little worried though, as I hope this isnt going to be a Leggy Bashing or Leggy Creepy fic. He isnt one of my favorite characters, as Tolkien never did alot with him, but I'm of the "Can't we all get along?" Variety, so I hope this isnt one of those.
You're story is so addictive that I doubt that I'd stop reading even if it was. I've always been a bit disappointed at how few talented writers there are in this genre. It seems as though most of the really enjoyable fic writers, tend to stick to anime.
This is all kind of rambly, sorry about that. I'm sorry to hear about your father, and I hope that he improves. I'm not sure if you're a religious person or not, so I hope this won't offend you but I would like to light a healing candle for him.

I really enjoyed this chapter. It's so fantastic to see it back again - it's a story I really connect with. If you keep on producing chapters this good, don't rush it though!

*laughs* Don't worry too much about me, I'll be all right. I sort of figured that it would get darker as the story continued. Hell, even LotR isn't exacty merry and cheerfulment till the very end of RotK. I just started reading it all at once, and it kind of overloaded my system for a bit. *shrug* Anyway, one of these days I'll actually sign up on ff.net, and you can explain some my gueses, but I'm going to wait until my computer doesn't crash every three weeks (I swear it's almost clock-work).
What do you mean, Legolas might not survive? *cries* The only reason why I liked him in the books was because he went to Valinor with Gimli...I think I'll stop that before I continue that train of thought. I don't care too much if it gets a little canon, as long you stay roughly around the same basic premises Tolkien wrote. *sympathetic noises* This would be a very hard chapter to write. Going truly insane like that..would be painful on both sides. At least Fred has left Avon alone, though that beginning conversation makes me wonder how truly stable he was even before Fred. Still, he is likeable all the same.

This is one of the most depressing stories I've come across on, and I like it for some reason I have yet to figure out. I'm not that much of a Legolas fan, my love was given to Frodo when I first read the books and I have yet to lose it, with the other hobbits comming in close second, and I get kind of prejudiced if I don't feel the writer lives up the my expectations of him. Don't worry though, this story is great in that sense, terribly depressing and slight AU with compensation though, so don't sweat. Also, you mentioned slash, which I have not seen. Did I miss it somewhere, because please point me in the direction I did. And don't worry, I would never consider either of your characters Mary Sue (or Stu), which are just plain evil, it just doesn't suit them. There are a couple of things I am confused about, like what exactly happened in Mel and Avon's history since you've been hinting at something, and how exactly did they end up in Middle-Earth. Oh, I like Ken, for some disturbing reason. He's evil and twisted but he's fun. (Don't mind me, I just have the beginnings of Depression, and have a twisted sense of humor) I hungrily await you're continual story development, (even if I have to wait all year) and look forward to some of my questions being answered. ^_^

What in the world? You're not going to have Avon try take the ring just so Boromir can live, are you? As much as this sucks, Boromir has to die, it'll totally screw up the rest of the staory if he doesn't.
