richierich 1/3/12 . chapter 17 What a fantastic story! Took me a few weeks to read through but it was worth it. You made the characters feel like real, three-dimensional people. All of them. I wept and laughed and felt excited by turns as this great story unfolded and I can't thank you enough for all your time and work. This is the first story of yours that I have read and judging by the size and diversity of your story page I am in for a real treat! |

Scott I. Tuplin 2/2/11 . chapter 4I realise this is one of your older pieces, but I saw one of the updates for a later part of the Three series and decided I'd be best starting off at the beginning.
This story has really pulled me in. I find that a lot of writers tend to portray Batman as a generic superhero, seeming to forget the fact that he is ultimately just a human in a costume, but in this you have perfectly captured his raw vulnerability and rather than ruin a seemingly invincible character it oddly strengthens him in my opinion.
I have a feeling I'm going to thoroughly enjoy the rest of this tale, and those that follow on from it. |
Vegetassj51 12/17/10 . chapter 1wow, i almost skipped this one, but after reading the first couple paragraphs it grabbed me, here hoping the rest r the same :) |
anon 11/22/10 . chapter 17 Ooo, I love how the ending is so uncertain! So much angst and turmoil and uncertainty! :) I'm looking forward to the next in the series!
:P It's a really good thing I can write papers in my sleep. Otherwise I'd be screwed that I couldn't put your story down. :D |
Extant 11/21/10 . chapter 7:P Gah! I'm supposed to be writing a final report, but I can't put your story down!
I always find it fascinating when I come across a story in which the protagonist experiences or is given a disability which turns out to be positive, and often not just for him/herself but those around them as well. It's interesting, because whether they're paralyzed, deaf, blind, mute, have amnesia, etc... the ultimate difference is in how they percieve the world differently because of the nature of their disability. Even if Bruce's ultimate recovery is unrealistic, just how you have him now, as a child in an adult's body due to a brain injury, and how much joy it's really brought him and those around him takes what most people (and the mainstream media) would assume is a tragedy and turns it on its head, making it a blessing. It's so interesting to read these stories in context of having heard debates about disability and the assumptions that people with disabilities *must* have a lower quality of life because they don't live like "normal" people. Stories like this illustrate the disability community's assertions that it's really not like that at all. :D
Out of curiousity, have you had someone close to you experience a similar injury? I find most people who write disability fics (for lack of a better term) have family members or friends whose situation has given them insight and inspired the story. Or they heard of someone else's real-life story. |
