hantol 6/16/06 . chapter 1 i'll never understand why the hell botan or koenma would care about a human's death. they're supposedly immortal (well, he is anyway. i think. and at least she's got an incredibly long lifespan), and they deal with dead human's souls anyway. the dead wouldn't really be "gone" to them as they would be to other humans. anyway, i see you've dealt quite well with that issue at the reprocessing scene. makes sense
anyway, this is INCREDIBLY WELL WRITTEN. this is DEFINITELY my favorite yu yu hakusho fic, no doubt about that. you really expressed their feelings with rawness and elegance. great job! |

What? This fic has only gotten that many reviews? It deserves more, moooore I tell you!
If I had to describe this fic in one word I'd choose "heavy". Heavy because each word seems weighed down with darkness, pain, sorrow, anger. Heavy because the substance is solid, full of meaning and unspoken truths. I can just feel the emotion twisting within Koenma, his storm.
The mood of the fic felt dark. Goth, as you put it. But even in the darkness, there was a brief moment of light, though it was extinguished as quickly as it came. The reason behind Botan's motive was a bit hard to decipher, but that seems appropriate to the fic. A "thinking" fic. A fic that doesn't spoonfeed the reader and makes the reader think.
Honestly, this is my favorite fic of yours. It's well-written, high quality and angst as I've never known angst before. Your description is beautiful, to say the least, vivid in its execution, almost abstract at times. I especially liked how the fic seemed to "echo" at times.
There were some points I was unclear on, but I'll bug you about that privately. This was a great fic and I'm putting it up as one of my faves. /Grabe, Melpomene, sobrang galing mo na!/ |
