Deluxe489 2008-08-28 . chapter 49This is easily one of the longest pieces of fanfiction I've ever read, though I can't say it's the most well-written. Your plot is outstanding, though sometimes too passive in interludes between major plot points, and your general grammar and spelling is largely off for the most part of the story. Personally, I don't enjoy pieces of fanfiction with more than one Mewtwo and entire clans of Mew (and you did both), but the story was very interesting. In some of the chapters, I guess there must have been some sort of glitch in the system, as some parts of a chapter will reappear a few lines down, and what got to me the most was a lack of separation between shifts of viewpoint. When you were describing how the characters fall in love, I don't think you did all to realistically, as to me it seemed that their relationships seem to progress at a remarkably fast pace (it doesn't help that sometimes it's hard to know when a time shift has occurred).
I understand you were going for a sentimental ending, but quite honestly, Mewtwo's thoughts that he didn't belong in the world were never really mentioned in your story, much less made into plot points.
Still, you managed to make a remarkable story, (though I think the title doesn't really apply to every section of it),and I commend you on being able to follow characters from their young, near-teenage years to their deaths. |
hellfire014 2008-05-17 . chapter 49i cant believe i red this in a single day... this story was beautiful. |
Abbodon 2008-05-09 . chapter 49Love the mewtwo fic, this is one of the best sotries i have read, so sad it's over but i guess all good things come to and end. |
Dragon angel knight 2008-05-09 . chapter 49THis was a very beautiful story. thanks for writing it. |
Azure Inu 2008-01-31 . chapter 49You wrote an epic here. It's not as polished as some other things out there, but it's beautiful. If you decide to rewrite it, watch for the little grammer mistakes and places where the spell checker screwed up on you. Thank you. |
The Cursed Cleric 2008-01-19 . chapter 49 There is nothing I can say that would truly do this story justice. Moments of burning passion, gentle love, heart wrenching grief and sadness, nerve twisting tension, gutbusting humor... all rolled into one thing, painting a beautiful picture when veiwed as a whole. Memorable characters, each unique and special. You have a work of art here. You should be proud of what you have created. I didnt cry at any point in this story but there where times I felt I could have, both tears of joy and sorrow. I have nothing more to say, except good job. You have done well with this tale. One more thing: I cant help but feel bitter-sweet that the story is over... maybe a sequel in the future? |
Shiguya Retomasi 2008-01-02 . chapter 49Such a quiet end to a fic whose voice still carries it's message after all this time... I really don't know just what to say, as mere words can't truly describe the amazing story you've told. Taking such a simple question...and bringing not only the character it was asked of, but so many others to life; bringing so many voices fourth, giving each one their time to shine...amazing. From such a dark beginning, Mewt2 had to fight for everything he held dear...and everything that the world tried to take away from him. But, it wasn't only his sheer stubborness or determination that carried him on, it was the bond that those he touched had with him...that unseen thread binding so many lives together, that saw them through.
A part of me dreams of creating such a masterpiece, but it's a fool who wishes and chases after what is not his or hers. Writing, despite what I'm sure many believe, is more than just stringing words and ideas together, more than just making up fictitions personnalities and making them dance to your whim. No, true characters are more than just puppets...they're extentions of yourself; lives born of dreams, givin the chance to learn and grow through their stories...some are long, others are cut tragically short. But, none of them are meaningless; every one has a voice, something to add...something to make them real. Sure, I probably sound like a nut case talking like that, but it's how I feel.
I also heard the story behind the now missing continuation of this story, and while I don't have the pleasure of reading your own exact reasonings, I fully agree with your decision to end it here. Really, other than having to create more characters, the story itself is over; despite what I'm sure your less...polite fans would say. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see more of it...but, I would rather be left wanting than walk away dissapointed. Though, it would be nice if you were able to find someone to help you at least clean this story up a bit...
Anyway, once again here's a bit more praise to one of the most epic (if not off the wall) stories in the Pokemon archive.
Shiguya Retomasi Malachnaer, signing off. |
Shiguya Retomasi 2007-12-29 . chapter 19I was wondering if the idea of underground matches would come up eventually, as this fic has hit upon so many other said but not seen topics in the Pokemon world. I don't quite agree with the Elite 4's decision to simply take away his license, though...beyond the horrible condition his Charizard was in, with a little investigation they might have found a few 'skeletons' in his closet. Then again, most of the time, humans in that world tend to be less than fair when it came to such matters.
As for Candy...not really sure what to say about her just yet. |
Shiguya Retomasi 2007-12-04 . chapter 18Aww, Mewtwo found himself a lady...how touching. The whole 'psychic bond' part was a nice touch, binding the two in a way that no other living creature could match...
Figures Ivy would be a ** about things, really. She's a professor; understanding matters that can't be explained by logic probably wouldn't occur to her. |
Shiguya Retomasi 2007-12-04 . chapter 17This chapter felt really rushed; mainly, how quickly Cassidy dumped Mewtwo. I can see her realizing it would be pointless, but so quickly? And letting two of the others go, yet ordering the rest executed seems...wrong. Then again, if they were 'broken', they'd have nothing to live for anyway...so I guess it makes sense. |
Shiguya Retomasi 2007-12-04 . chapter 16I have a question. If Mewtwo is actually a legal citizen, how could he 'trade' himself like that? Really, wouldn't that fall under slavery or something to that effect, or do the laws of citizenship change when it's a Pokemon involved? Ah well, doesn't matter really.
Heh, looks like Cassidy is really falling apart, along with one of her subordinates. All I can say, is that Cassidy deserves it; evil only destroys itself in the end, after all. |
Shiguya Retomasi 2007-12-04 . chapter 15Aheh, I managed to forget I was reading this fic... Anyway, it may be cruel but I can't quite feel bad for L2 and his loss of voice. Between the sleep deprivation, smoking and other drugs, he had it coming. Doesn't mean it was nice, just expected.
As for Team Rocket...they sure don't give up. Sorry for the short review, but I can't really think of much to talk about...wait, got something.
Managing so many bands...I can see him being really into his success, but that's just too much to handle; even for a super-psychic. It's a wonder he didn't have a nervous breakdown or something... |
Shiguya Retomasi 2007-11-14 . chapter 14I really don't know what to say really...L2 being human and further exploring his feelings for Jessi was pretty neat, and no doubt they'd find a way to make it work in such a world. But...beyond that I was having a lot of trouble keeping up with it...chaotic fight, and not in a good way. |
Shiguya Retomasi 2007-11-14 . chapter 13Hoo boy, now the real chaos has begun. Everything from L2's abusive manager to Mewtwo dragging up his old 'home' and starting a gym. I dunno, it felt really rushed...but somehow it still works. To be honest reading this is like an acid trip, it just keeps going at an insane pace yet still kicks **. |
Shiguya Retomasi 2007-11-11 . chapter 12Another wild ride through the life of L2. It almost seems strange how quickly he picks things up, but looking at his base and methods of creation it makes sense. I particularly liked the singing career part. Sorry I can't say more, but it's kinda late and my mind shut off just after reading the chapter. |
