Definitely deceptive-I did think it was Quirrel at first, as you probably intended-and I like fics that do that.

*shivers* I guess I never really thought about just how effective "Moody's" suspicion of Snape was...they knew from Quirrell that Snape was the man to watch for and they knew he'd never think to suspect the ex-auror who suspected *him.* This was great!

As usual with your writing, I find that it's the little touches I like best. The stray word or thought ("I knew that he would be proud") that means more than what the character thinks it does - it's great! I never realized how perfectly Crouch fit into Moody's role, and how creepy it is that he does. Excellent.

I've tackled some difficult ones but I've never tried to look far into the heart of Bartemius Crouch the younger...not an easy thing to do. I think you've done it well.
