I believe I discovered this fic about about three years ago, before I limited my fanfiction perusal to completed stories. Funny enough, it was actually this story which prompted me to do just that: I wasn't paying attention while I was reading it, and when I abruptly came to the end of any updates I was pathetically heartbroken. Yes, I'll admit freely (but only because this story is so undisputedly worthy of it) that I cried and spent about a week forlornly thinking of nothing else.
In any case, I subscribed to alerts, badgered the author with pleas for updates, and whatnot, keeping an eye on it in case something was ever posted. And even though I knew very well that no additions had been made since five years ago, I've still come back and re-read the story a number of times: it has morphed into a great comfort read. Because, yes, it's just that good.
In fact, I've just finished re-reading it again (I've lost track of which tally-mark this would be). And this time I've come to a decision that I've been toying with for the last few cycles. It simply cannot end this way.
And so, dear Artemis Luna Diana, after five years of inactivity, I think we're all glumly consigned to the fact that it is unlikely you shall return. I realize that your interest in fanfiction may have waned, or perhaps the real world interfered unexpectedly and irreversibly with your writing, or that maybe - for whatever reason - you are simply unable to continue. (Some have mentioned serious illness. I pray for your health and well-being, my dear.) And so, I would like to offer to continue this tale.
You would of course be given credit. As much as I wish it had been, it was not I who dreamt up such a captivating premise. I only wish to take the story you started and complete it in my own way the best I can - though it could never be of the same caliber as it would have been if carried straight through by the original author. If you wish to offer your permission and endorsement, please do so. If, however, you would prefer I did not take up this task, I will of course do as you say.
Again, thank you for this awesome fanfic which easily ranks among the elite, and I hope very much you are well.
