Great story. You've got one rich vocabulary, you knew that?
I, like seemingly 100% of the people around here, especially liked the imagery you created. I was very deep and especially original, with none of those clichés people usually use to describe sceneries.
Just one thing, though. Don't you think you overdid it a little with the hybrids? I mean, that's a hell of a lot of them!
I'll be sure to check on your other stories. If any of them are as good as this one, then I'll be in for a blast.

Hmm... interesting teaser. Though, the sudden and shocking end doesn't seem to combine with the omnious build-up very well... unless something else is going on... the climax seems a bit silly for all that build-up.

And, of course, I /DEFINITELY/ want to see more of this. I think my favorite part was definitely the description of the odd weather; the words blended together beautifully, much better than anything I could ever manage.
