i love the last line about message reseaved. so spock as so very very sweet in vulcan way.

I have nothing against slash. Most of the time I enjoy it. But here... it just hit me wrong. The characters came out right... the situation was written decently. I don't like it.

When I first read it was about Spock, Jim and Christmas gifts, I cringed. You know how easy it is on this subject to a)plunge into maudlin sentimentality, or even worse. b)write the characters completely out of characcter? Kudos to you for not falling into any of those traps. Perfect to have McCoy introduce it and not have Spock thinking of it spontaneously. Nice touch to have him consult the computer. The little "Or perhaps not expect, as Spock was not known for spontaneously deciding to conform to Earth customs"... was a perfect qualification. And the gift - anothe rpotential cringe-maker - was very very appropriate. I would have hated it if he had gone out and _bought_ something. This was too perfect.

Awwww! That was so cute and sweet, I have cavities now, but still, I liked it. Made me feel uncharacteristically warm and happy inside.
