You know, I am really, really impressed with the way you pulled this off. Seriously, I was so excited when I saw that an honest-to-goodness Mitsukake and Chiriko story where it explored their...being "outside the fire," if you will. I found it to be quite well-written, and the plot to be rather original. Like I said before, it's not everyday that a Mitsukake OR Chiriko story gets posted, much less a story with both of them as the main characters. I'm very, very pleased.

This is an outstanding, beautifully written one shot fic and it sheds the best insight into Mitsukake pov of any fic I have ever read (and I've read a lot!)

I love and admire the way you established that Mits and Chiriko are just as much warriors as the others, but yet showed their vulnerable, sensitive sides at the same time. There was also that wonderful twist at the end...*grins* nicely done!

I am putting this fic on my favorites list, and I very much look forward to reading more of your fics in the future. ^__^

You are one of the few authors who writes a Mitsukake that I actually enjoy reading. Your portrayals of him in this and your other fics actually makes me feel bad that I have such a low opinion of the giant healer. (yes, I've read your other works, but I only recently signed up for my own account so I could review and post! Sorry I haven't reviewed before!) Anyway, I love getting inside his head and you do that wonderfully. His character seems a lot more likable and dynamic versus what we see of him in the series. Plus, I love your portrayals of the other seishi and how they are totally oblivious to everything going on inside Mits's head. I particularly enjoyed Tasuki, but I'm biased. :)

My only question is: Why did Chiriko run away? I'd say it's because he's feeling the same things that Mits is feeling, but I think you might have been able to delve into that a little more fully. Then it would pull the fic together just a bit more in the end.

Anyway, your writing is witty, fresh, and error-free (as far as I could tell in one reading). Your action is detailed and exciting and your character descriptions are dead on. And, once again, you bring alive characters that not a whole lot of fans would consider their favorites. Keep up the good work!
