Nice story, the last chapter was the best. You've done a wonderful job through your series of tales of possibly explaining some things from Hiko's and Kenshin's past. You're characterizations are superb, and you weave a captivating tale.

Now, hurry up and update those CB stories, pretty please!!

You write these sad stories so terribly well, ^_^ I love every moment of it. Kenshin and Hikaru's relationship was so sweet and beautiful, I was just cringing through the whole thing, knowing that Kenshin was going to leave. Ara... I can't get over it... your writing style is so detailed and wonderful, I just want to cry. Such skill seems to be increasingly rare, and it's a shame you haven't received more reviews. You certainly deserve it.

right...it's me again...yah well i haven't read the whole of this series yet if it's completed but i do have one point to bring in to question. like you said in one of your chapters that kenshin couldn't possibly have gotten the amicable part of his personality from hiko, and thus the necessity of hikaru's existence, i think it's highly questionable that if she's so important in his character shaping, why is it that throughout the lenght of the series, this impt character was not at all mentioned. i mean this as no insult to your work but perhaps there should be some sort of reason why she was never mentioned or even thought about if she was so impt. i'm sorry but what captured my attention the most about your story was its smooth flow and the way it knitted together witht he original storyline in one complete fabric. so this fact sort of like stands out quite a bit for me. but other than this i basically have the same things to say which is great plot, wonderful language and beautiful settings and last but not least is that all the characters sem in character.

I really liked all the chapters! Please don't get me wrong!

I only think that you should have put one more chapter between "Holiday" and "Leaving". I can't believe that nobody noticed Kenshin's believes getting the better of him, at least Hikaru should have noticed something.
It also is kind of jump in the story, and you are letting out a very important (and also a very left alone in other fics, too) part of Kenshin's, Hiko's and also Hikaru's past. I think there a plenty of things a creative mind as yours can think of!

Other than that, the story was really very good. I think a woman like Hikaru could have such a strong maternal instinct, and that Hiko's believes would clash with hers in that point.

Will she have a child? (Because I wonder a bit why she hasn't one)

I've waited quite a while to finally see the story in which Hikaru meets Kenshin!. It's really humorous to see her and Hiko arguing over how to raise him!. Great work!. It was pretty sad at the end when Hikaru finds out that Kenshin left though.

This final chapter was interesting on a few levels. I liked seeing Hikaru and Hiko have an argument that had truly difficult emotional resonance for the both of them.

Also, as you said this was actually your first story, as well written as it was, your writing style has changed and improved and it shows! As always, I look forward to reading more. Might there be a possibility of a Kenshin/Hikaru reunion, perhaps when he visits Hiko to learn the succession technique? I'd love to see what you do with that!

A few small nitpicks (very small though; I love your work!) : I believe the walk to Hiko's takes a bit longer than Hikaru seemed to make the trip in. Proper winter wear for the time period would be a padded, perhaps emroidered haori (a sort of jacket that looks like a shorter, thicker gi with a clasp to close it) to be worn over kimono, though I suppose Hikaru could have been wearing a Western style cloak. And... her parasol would actually be made of oiled, waxed paper, not fabric. But again, small small nitpicks.

I look forward to reading whatever else you put out!

You know, I can basically go on and on about the excellence of this fic as well as your other works, but I'm just going to sum that all up with one word...Whoa! And I mean that in a positive way. If my meaning proves a little too ambigious, try watching the Matrix, especially when Neo says his trademark "Whoa..." line.

Hey nice story!
I haven´t yet read your other stories (If you have; but since I read on one of the reviewers coments; it said so)
I really wanna know what happens next with lil´kenshin´s future (that might be already well known to all RK lovers; that he will go to war etc etc...but...what kind of bonds can hold the author´s imagination from turning stuff from their respective places?..NOTHING!)
So keep up the good work, we will al be expecting the next chappie!
C yeh!

I will add that Kenshin stated in the manga version of the Raijuta storyline (Tokyo Arc) that he wasn't trained with either shinai or bokutou and therefore, doesn't particularly know how to use one properly.

In flashbacks to Kenshin's childhood in the Tsuiokuhen OAV, it shows him being trained with a sword at various points.

It makes more sense (to me anyway) to train him with a shinai and then a bokutou, but I suppose that wasn't the norm in his school?

Of course, aside from that, I look forward to reading about Hikaru spoiling Kenshin rotten. ^_^

It's always a joy to see that one of my favorite authors has added more to her stories. I'm not even halfway through the chapter yet and I feel compelled to leave a review.

"I can see you think that's a brilliant idea..." I loved this line; it's what compelled me to review. You capture Hiko, both in personality and voice, perfectly and I'm loving every bit of it.

Small nitpick. Please, please, please don't call Kenshin "the" Battousai. That's like calling myself the Sevarem. It's a name, not a title. They don't even have "the" in Japanese.

Aside from that, keep writing your wonderful stories and I'll be sure to keep reading them.

I'm very interested in seeing how Hikaru will affect Kenshin's role in the Bakamutsu. So for i've enjoyed the Hiko/Hikaru based fics. Keep up the good work.
