You are the first writer that I've read who's really dealt with the question "what would Michaela do if her only daughter became seriously ill" I think you're on to a fabulous story. It has the potential to unlock character development between Colleen and Michaela and between Brian and Michaela because all of a sudden Brian won't be the darling of the family.
