Seems to be falling into being just another ghost story, hope you have some twists coming to set it apart. Can see that you're already setting it up for the "Sorry, no real proof" part, with only Derek being able to hear the voice.

A pretty good story in the Freaky Links mythos, mostly captures the feel of the charcters and the show. A few spots seemed to jump a little confusingly, not clear enough that it had switched to another scene, but other than that it was a good read.
