I don't remember if I ever gave you a review, so I'm going to do it now: Awesome is simply too weak of a word to describe this story. Brilliant is closer! It's obvious you did extensive research into the Civil War and that shines so clearly and adds so much depth to the story! You have a wonderful handle on the Cartwrights and bring them to life with so much depth and emotion, it's like they are here in the room with me--or rather, I'm with them! I could hear the crackle of the flames and echoes of the screams and almost feel the heat and Adam's fear as I read the story. You have done a superb job with this, and if there was a oscar for fanfiction, you'd most certainly deserve it! There are too many parts of this that I dearly loved to list them all, so I'll just say in short that I am applauding you and thanking you so much for sharing this marvelous piece with the world! BRAVO!

Everything was a surprise, that it kept me reading til the end. Very satisfing ending too, ties it up neatly. You should write pro!

In this case the circumstances and the emotions they evoke are particularly powerful. I also saw and appreciated your follow-up to this fic, 'The Song'. I hope you'll keep tunin' them out!
