Yeah, the rice bit at the end really nailed this story down. Peter doesn't always seem to appreciate his dad very much even if he does say thank you. Thank you can get worn out and sometimes is is the little niceities that make life go a little smoother. As for the rest of the story, I really enjoyed it. Please keep writing.
