Oh I love this. I completely agree that the Noldor knew Tilion and Arien, and of course you're right that they would see their bacoming the sun and moon as a great sacrifice and a great loss. Celeborn wants pure starlight back, and Galadriel misses her old Maia friends. The sun and moon really were a very imperfect solution to the loss of the trees.

Galadriel and Celeborn are so beautifully perfect here. Galadriel is so unwillingly vulnerable, and Celeborn is too gentlemanly to take advantage of the vulnerability. And how Celeborn switches from Galadriel to Artanis really shows the deeper meaning to the names, and how important they were to her.

Celeborn's explanation of the Sindar's love of starlight is wonderful - I could picture the Sindar stumbling out of bed one morning and seeing a big ball of fire in the sky. Artanis's sense of loss is tangible here. Arien and Tilion are all she can see of her old world - and it must hurt her to have the Sindar hate them.

And then there is the interplay between Celeborn and Galadriel themselves. Celeborn knows just how to tread around her emotions, and he treats her so very tenderly.

This is absolutely wonderful, Starlight. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A thoughtful piece of work. You write both Galadriel and Celeborn very well, and the reaction of the Sindar to the appearance of the Sun and the Moon is quite believable. (And I think you're right to assume the Noldor knew Arien and Tilion beforehand.)

*claps* Very nice. I love Celeborn's description of why the Sindar love the stars so - very believable. Artanis is lucky that he is so understanding!

That was beautiful! You stayed true to the characters, and that fragment of Galadriel's song was very fitting for this particular scene, great job.

Nice story! I love your mysterious Galadriel, and how she begins slowly to open up to the curious Celeborn. The situation seems so real! Great dialogue, and full of sensitiveness. Good work!

This is a lovely piece of work. Truly beautiful. We see so little of Celeborn and Galadriel as being -there is no other word for it- human, that it is wonderful to discover their personalities anew. This is excellent, a much needed respite from those stories defiling the Lord of the Rings archive.

I raise a toast to you, may you write much more!

Cheers,
Meir Brin
