If you ever update this again, I have a few suggestions:

The Akita breed (Akita Inu, sometimes) was a dog breed for various imperial and noble houses in Japan, as well as for hunting dogs, and has been around for centuries in their home province of Akita (from which they got their name, obviously) - possibly even as far back as Inu Yasha's time (although they are supposedly a larger breed now than they were back then). They are dominant, pack-oriented dogs.

Schipperkes are another tailless dog (sometimes docked, but in this case for health and sanitary reasons more than for grooming reasons). They are related to belgium sheep dogs, although which came first has been up for debate for some time. They were bred primarily as barge dogs, and are a smallish dog which is fiercely protective of its owner and are known to be as effective as much larger dogs in defending their owner, though they are not usually used for guard dogs nowadays - they used to be, however, back when they were primarily bred for ship-board life.

I beg of you, UPDATE! I would like it if she had a police dog. That would be so cute.
