skatingandcruzing 12/30/11 . chapter 1wow. THis was really well executed. And one of the best Officer Grayson fanfics out there. |
 The Reader Says 12/6/11 . chapter 1 pretty good :O |
Kelana-ti 10/22/10 . chapter 1That is amazing. About a month ago, a guy at my school was talking about how cops sometimes go undercover in schools. I thought that was cool, and today I find this story! Needless to say, I really enjoyed it. I liked reading it from Sydney's point of veiw, but I kinda wish you put some other viewpoints in as well. Oh well. I really did enjoy reading this. |
Princess613 2/16/10 . chapter 1You know, usually your told to say the Shema prayer when you think you're about to die.
Other than that...Cool fic, nice characters, a fantastic trip. |
windstar 1/28/08 . chapter 1 fabulous, and absolutely stunning |
Aishuu 11/14/07 . chapter 1A very well-told tale, with a nice use of outside perspective. I enjoyed reading this. |
Protector of Canon2 6/7/07 . chapter 1Wow, this is amazing. I love the characters you wrote, and I was so into the story that I found myself wispering in Hebrew all the prayers that you mentioned. I also like the little mention of "Grandfather Aaron's corner delicatessen." Cute. Does she have any relatives who are tailors? Or maybe there are some doctors in the family tree? |
 QOShea 12/11/06 . chapter 1Another great story, Syl! |
Rosadina 11/5/05 . chapter 1This is an awesome story that was extremely realistic. I love it and it is going in my c2, while you are going on my author alerts! |
Melethiel 4/23/05 . chapter 1Excellent! Entertaining - one of my favorite stories. You got me hooked on Nightwing fanfiction. Write a sequel! Or a prequel. I'm not really picky. - |
 eset 4/2/05 . chapter 1Wow.
I think this is one of the better stories that attacks the issue of school violence (Maybe even better than Buffy's "Earshot"), and it is all the more poignant because of the way you contrast it with the gang wars etc. all too often ignored. Even though you wrote it in the aftermath of Columbine, it still holds true today, and it struck a few chords with me and probably a lot of other results of public school education.
When I was a junior, one of my peers, who i thought i knew pretty well, was arrested for trying to build a bomb out of things he took from the chem closet. A lot of us would love to stick our heads in the sand and pretend stuff like this just doesn't happen, not HERE, not with MY SCHOOL. Maybe you can pitch this storyline to DC. It should really be adressed more often.
The only criticism I have is that it seemed to get a little preachy at the end-though I have absolutely no idea how that could have been avoided. I really liked how you were able to prtray all the characters as human, rather than as simply caricatures. Even the more classic character archtypes (the well-meaning school counciler, the gruff and overreactive vice principal) you made your own.
Keep imagining, keep writing, and keep posting. |

MeShelly 6/20/04 . chapter 1This was a wonderful story! I read non-stop. The opening was excellent. I always appreciate depth and detail, and you a great talent for showing rather than telling. Al's personna was also very interesting to watch, and viewing it from the slightly confused Sydney's POV made it even better.
I liked the reference to Metropolis, too. It added a sense of familiarity with Sydney. You've done what very few people on this site can do-introduce a compassionate, young, pretty female as the main character and get the reader to like her and relate to her. Kudos on a job VERY well done!
I really liked the scene in the cafeteria with the boy and gun. Dick might have seriously jeopardized his cover, but he still did what was right. And then saving Sydney, and adding that thing about the half-way house...it was a very sweet scene.
I thought the best parts were when 'Al' would push Sydney away, to keep her from wasting her time on something fake and possibly putting herself at risk. And though I was kind of surprised with the takeover of the school, it was kind of funny to see Sydney react to the news of Al's real identity (and keep him from moving onto the next. "This is a job for Nightwi-" I could just hear him swear in his head."*No*! Absolutely not! This is *my* case! Tell 'im I said, 'Thanks, but no thanks!'"
He paused to listen, his dark features softening somewhat. "Well, okay...Tell 'im I'll call him afterwards. Maybe he and I can do dinner next Friday...sort of a belated celebration...Yeah, I know he was busy...it's cool, really."
I loved that conversation. Expertly done and captures a tender nerve in that father-son/crime fighting partner relationship.
Still, I was a little confused about Melbourne. I mean, why would he go around bragging about murder to a bunch of high school kids? Talk about setting a bad example, and rather sloppily too.
I liked the ending-very neatly tied up loose ends and yet left an opening so that you know only this section is over: Sydney's still doing what she's doing, and staying safe while she's at it, hopefully.
Like I said, wonderful story. Thank you so much for writing it. Michelle |
Becky 3/13/04 . chapter 1 Another great story. I really enjoyed this one, too. I don't know how you manage to write so much great stuff, but I'm glad you do. :) |
