Please finish it, I can see that you have stories from this year so you're still on the site. This is such a great fic and I think you should attempt to finish it up it would be greatly appreciated.

I really like the tenderness you creat between the two of them. With lines like, "He thought about regaining his hand by force, but the sweet vulnerability of her emotions struck a chord in his heart and he could not refuse her," you manage to also show Kenshin's reluctance even as he looses the debate wiih himself and Kaoru's vulnerable yet determined attitude.

I thought this was very well written. I love the way you characterize their seesaw moves of getting closer and pulling back. The characters seem to have an added depth and seriousness that I associate with the manga rather than the anime. I particularly enjoyed the second chapter and how things are not at all simple and happy even as the barriers between them are breaking down. That line, "...she realized that he might choose sorrow’s empty embrace over hers” really says a lot.
I know it is unlikely as this story hasn’t been updated in 4 years but I would encourage you to keep going. You still have readers out here.

Wow, this is awesome writing. Such depth to the characters...I'm really impressed. I guess it's hopeless that this will ever get updated, but it's still going into my favorites!

As to your short rant about the OVA's- I agree, Reflections is total and utter crap! It completely goes against everything the character of Kenshin stood for, and blatantly contradicts the manga and Watsuki's creation. Between the manga and the tv series, I would have to choose the manga. I love the series too, but there is a raw, more honest Kenshin (and a less whiny Kaoru) in the manga that I infinately prefer.

A touching fanfic, indeed. Very deep and I rather like the (somewhat) forwardness of both Kaoru and Kenshin. Their interractions are more, if only a tad bit, forward than most other fics and I like the new twist. The lack of mistakes in your fanfic is welcomed upon my bemuddled brain and I solute you for the simplicity yet very deep storyline.
