avasion 2007-06-29 . chapter 13i.must.not.cry.~this story was great. i think sesshomaru actually learned something, but i'm a tad teary-eyed that it took a life in order for him to realise it...drat. but good story. |
LilyGinnyBlack 2007-05-29 . chapter 13When I first read the summary, I found myself intrigued, thus I decided to read this fanfic. I began to read and found out that the female was an OC. I grew hesitant, oh so many bad experiences with cannon charactersXOC and/or OC in general, but the writing style was lovely and the cultural notes/facts section at the end the chapter was interesting and enlightening, so I continued to read.
I easily moved away from being hesitant to being eager to read the next chapter. This story captivated me with its flowing writing style and wonderful usage of Japanese words and terms, which were placed in the story with a sense of purpose behind them, not simply there because a fangirl decide to show off her knowledge of the Japanese language which, in most cases, is extremely limited and could sometimes be wrong.
Anyway, the characterization of Sesshomaru, Rin, Tsukiyo, and Yumemi was incredibly refreshing, as was the relationship of the above characters. There was a passive Sesshomaru, a rather cold Sesshomaru, but he still maintained honor which can be seen as a form of kindness for him. You made Rin still love her lord, but you also made her wiser and not simply a grown up (in the physically term) version of her younger and more childish self, but rather a woman who knows what her love is and how it should be shown. And, as I think about it now, that makes sense, since Rin has always been one for formaility, politeness, and a sense of where she stood in the world (even at such a young age). When it came to Tsukiyo she stayed as far away from the Mary-Sue category as possible, she had a unique personality and one that was well developed and the simplistic nature of merely mentioning her presence at times was delightful when compared to Mary-Sues', which all happen to be characters that the author MUST write as craving attention. And, finally, Yumemi she seems to be such a cute and understanding child, almost a reminder of Rin but at the same time entirely different. While she relates to Rin the form of needing to only be held in the arms of her father and be acknowledged by him, she seems to be more of a tom-boy than Rin ever was. Yumemi just doesn't come off as the type of girl that picks flowers! :P Overall the relationships and characterizations most certainly set this story apart.
Finally, the plot was plain, but that is its beauty. Sometimes simple plots are the best; they cause less confusion and they allow the readers to gain so much more about what the author wants to get across, along with multiple other things of that nature. The length of this fanfic was also very pleasing, it was long enough were the characters and their relations with one another were given justice, but not so long that the overall plot/theme was lost to both the reader and author.
This is a rare fanfic, even more so since it has two OCs as main characters, and it deserves all the praise I can give. Keep up the wonderful work and please take care! :D

Ilinox 2007-02-22 . chapter 13I don't know what to say. Except... WOW! Haha, I have to admit this is the third time I've read your story and I'm not too sure if I already wrote a review for this :P. But like all of the others have said there's just something about the way you write that makes it so magical and makes me wanting more! I can't wait for another installment with Sesshy :3, you can write his personality perfectly! He doesn't seem OOC at all and the way you impliment japanese words too.
Some stories get annoying with a bunch of japanese words here and there but I have to say the most memorable part about the story is Tsukiyo's funeral and how he had "Inu no Tsukiyo" on the slab. It just created such a beautiful scene :D. Keep on writing! |
Jarns 2006-09-03 . chapter 13I've been wanting to read this story for awhile now, having liked the way you treated Sesshy-sama in "Stolen Seasons". You really have a feel for the complexities of his personality! This story kept reminding me of The Tale of Genji -- I recently finished the first volume of that, and the little details of everyday life you add to your story are very similar in style. Several delightful scenes stand out in my memory: Tsukiyo brushing aside Sesshomaru's hair when he comes to collect her, the poetry contests (and an annoyed Sesshy! ^.^), his hand on her belly, feeling his child move, Yumemi's excited "domo domo domo!" (so cute!), Yumemi sitting in his lap, being part of him. Lots of good bits! I like that you do the research to place the story firmly in time and culture, and that you take the time to give us notes on things we might not be aware of. You have a good grasp of the characters, so there are no OOC bits to distract from the flow of the story, and your original characters are vibrant and have a life of their own as well! All in all, I have to say: Brava! |
DaughterofBastet 2006-06-16 . chapter 1* sigh* Unhappy... I was kinda hoping it was Rin-chan... Ah well... |
A Fortunate Gander 2006-05-18 . chapter 13It has only been about half an hour since I read Stolen Seasons, and now I have just finish reading this story... and now I will say it again... wow... your writing is just wonderful, remarkable really... and so very magical... it just leaves me breathless and wanting more... and I will not deny that I have shed my tears for this fanfiction... it is sad yet so full of life... beautiful... |
Disco-Dancing on the Roof 2005-07-07 . chapter 1I know that I am only reviewing one chapter, but I am pressed for time right now, and really can't stick around for long. (Gotta run to the grocery store with my mom.)
Anyway, I saw you on someone's favorites list, and found this story. So I have two things to say:
1. You are by far the greatest author I have ever seen.
2. If you plan on doing a sequal, do it! I must read it! |
Aphiopsyduck 2004-04-07 . chapter 1Hm. Intrigued. And thanks for the lesson. :o) Well written story, too. |
Assless Chaps 2004-03-13 . chapter 1great job keep it up |
 Sabriel41 2004-01-31 . chapter 13Lovely, lovely work with this...
I've become recently addicted to Inuyasha; and quite frankly, this is *the* best fic I've read in the area thus far. I must admit that I was a little dubious at first; original characters are so rarely written effectively, much less as a romantic interest for a male character... but I was definitely pleasantly surprised. Throughout your fic, the characterization was beautifully rendered... as well, I loved the ending. Happy endings are usually the way to go -at least in my mind! ^^* - but your denouement was far more effective (and less cliche'd!) than "happily ever after.." The bit with her 'pillow book' at the end was an excellent detail.
But what probably impressed me the most was that you actually took the time to *research* the historical details behind your story. A rare choice, perhaps, but it made "Moonlight and Honor" a far richer tale for your troubles.
Kudos, Regards, and Starry Nights,
~Sabriel. |
Silvermagess 2003-11-25 . chapter 13 I can't believe I waited so long to read the rest. I have to say you showed amazing skill in writing this. When I read the first chapter, I didn't think I'd be interested. But, by about the fourth chapter, I felt like I was reading something completly different.
The last chapters were very good, though 13 seemed a little weak.
Still, I find your skill in writting Sesshoumaru truely admirable. |
 One-Sided-Love 2003-09-20 . chapter 13*sniff*so freakin sad...yet,a great story*sniff* |
keito-chan 2003-09-09 . chapter 13 i love this story! i like the way you make sesshoumaru notice what he missed in this human woman that he could have gotten to know, but didn't. yes of course it's sad, but i like that. this story isn't a musshy romance, but just something that i can't explain in writing makes me love it! it's wonderful! keep up the writing no matter what!
lots of luv,
kate (penname keito-chan ^_^) |
Blooded-Blade 2003-09-07 . chapter 13how sad. I hate to see a good story go. But everything good in our lives must. Thank you for this wonderful fic I very much enjoyed it and look forward to seeing a sequal. Later. |
Sparks-with-a-fist 2003-09-07 . chapter 13OMG! This is an awesome story. I will say here and now that I am not the biggest Inu Yasha fan, but a good friend told me to read this story. All I can say is that I want to read more. This is great! I love the many sides of Sesshoumaru in regards to his feelings towards Tsukiyo. Bemusement, rage, indifference, and lastly respect and in a small affection. This is great. I love how you have developed the characters and the story and leave us pathetic readers begging for more.
Please update soon! |
