I'm glad Nerdanel could set Feanor straight, and it is nice to know there is a reason for his temper. I thought it funny when he asked if Maedhros had any plans before bedtime; it shows just how adult he is and unable to quite go into the child's world. Maedhros was cute, especially with Maglor.

I like the way you show Feanor's sternness as stemming from his concern for his son, rather than just being due to being a "bad father". Of course, poor Maedhros is too young to understand that he's not really at fault. The ending, where Feanor reaches out to bridge the distance between himself and his young son, is beautiful.

Nerdanel was as wise as she ought to be, and Fëanor...this one was very well done! Compliments. Ít´s really hard for someone like him to learn his lesson about posessiveness. Bad luck he never learnt it completely!

After all, his sons must have had a reason to leap straight to his side and swear the Oath with him, and one of the most obvious reasons would be that they quite simply loved their father. This fic helps to make it believable.

Okay, let me try to recollect myself here... I thought little Maedhros and baby Maglor were so adorable! Oh my, I just want to showers them with hugs and kisses! You've captured Nerdanel's essence very well- wise, yet stubborn of her own accord. And, of course, Feanaro. Not the most loving father, but he tries so hard... and yet, without betraying his hard, fiery character. The fic is light hearted, but you've cleverly added some prophetic undertones, with Maitimo's trust in his father, and desire to be like him. I'm very impressed, Starlight! Very well done... will you write more of these short stories? :D
Jillian Baade 2003-02-08 ch 1, anon.	abuseof course a child would be bored seperating rocks by colour. Well, a big number anyway. Feanor is so impatient to prove his sons better than anyone else's children, isn't he? But he doesn't understand what he found easy as a child, another boy might not. The ending was good, cute, a pity Feanor forgot or chose to disregard the words he spoke to little Maitimo that night. If he had remembered, his actions over the theft of the Silmarils and the death of his father might have been different.
