Reviews for: Interlude in a Church

I found Break Through on my computer again today, and remembered how much I love your writing. There are few stories worth reading more than once, but almost everything you write is. This is a wonderful story, managing to satisfy while still being but a fragment of the whole picture. Thank you for writing it.

Why doesn't the idea of Pete Wisdom smoking in a church surpise me? I like your writing style, and the idea of an outside observer witnessing an exchange between the X-men. Thought provoking.

i'm not sure if i've reviewed this before, but I know i've read it before, and i love it. this is incredibly beautiful. someone should do a series where every story is an instance where a normal person just happens to be in on a conversation between two major x-players. it doesn't always have to be so serious, but this is a great idea. really love the story

Reeeaaaallly good fiction. I love stories like these... brief interludes into the lives of pop characters. Excellent job, polished, slick, wonderful.

Truly interesting. It's amazing how the character writing the story empathizes with the cold-hearted beings telling it. No one seems the least bit concerned for the wellfare of the victim save how it affects them. "Nothing bad really happened save someone wouldn't walk again- do come back - we don't have to tell anyone" - "I'm a killer - ie look how it affects me" - not any sympathy for the injured party. It's like the person hurt isn't important save for the guilt you feel. This story sent shivers up and down my spine as being far more scarily dark than many of the other obvious attempts at scary fic I've seen in a long while. I don't think I've ever seen Psylocke and especially Wisdom displayed so selfish and insensitive since they usually only show up in stories by writers who love them. Most people who don't like them unlike writers who don't like characters like Cyclops or Gambit don't seem to feel the need to point out their flaws. This wasn't an attempt to do that but be sympathetic yet still managed to show their both their depth and "smallness" with alarming clarity. Stunning.

Ouch! That was wonderful. Sharp, witty and to the point. I really enjoyed this and would love to read more about this "incident." But you provide just the right amount of detail and mystery to stir up and sustain my interest and leave me with the same questions as your narrator. Great work!

Neato.. Oft I have wished to attend church, Seldom have I been able to enter such sacred ground.

Oh, wow. Part of me wants to know more about what happened-but another part of me knows it doesn't matter. You've given just enough details-the story's beautifully sad the way it is.

Churches are the best place to talk. Great accoustics.
