I've read this story many a times, so I am surprised that I forgot how good this is. Now that I think about it - this prompted farewell - it was almost my take on your work if you will

This is such a lovely piece which makes me miss your Celeborn as if I actually lost him from my life.

Any change you'll return to writing about him anytime soon (or at all - even if it is not soon).

This story broke my heart but so beautiful at the same time.

"Often she said to me 'to bear a ring of power is to be alone.' And I would say 'take it off then, and be with me.' But she would not."

That line just made my heart melt and suddenly I felt for Celeborn.

And he's like top elf now that Elrond's gone.
Oh sam, what a hobbit! :DD

Wow, that one hit hard. It's a sad feeling, knowing that they left one that loved so dearly behind.
Very deep; I like it.

This version of Rosie had me in stitches...I could almost picture her giving a Nazgul a piece of her mind...and the Nazgul backing down (the "fierce wimmin-critters" effect; just ask Eowyn)!

But most of all, I loved your characterization of Celeborn; hate to admit I'd never put much thought into his perspective. Kinda sad; poor elf!

My nose is blocked, my tissue is wet, my eyes are still leaking...

The pain of leaving their loved ones in a world which they may never touch. That was beautiful, and it touched me a lot. Please continue to write touching stories such as this one. Good luck.

Thank you for a wonderful story! Sad and hopeful at the same time, it made the tears rise in my eyes. Sam and Rosie are very much in character and as to Celeborn - well I've never thought much about this character - but your depiction of him is very plausible, and now my heart goes out to him. And the Ent song is really fitting his situation too! Your style of writing is very close to Tolkien. Kudos!

This was so poignant, and bittersweet, yet still hopeful. None of that overblown sentimentality I'm sick of seeing. Perfection!

What a lovely, Sam-centric fic. Tough, gentle, tender, but definitely not sentimental. I thoroughlly enjoyed it!

Oh, my. I'd have never thought of this in a million years and now that I've seen it it will stick in my head forever. Thank you.

I'm new to LoTR fic myself, but ... wow. It was moving to see the darker side of Sam's optimism and practicality, how they can make grief linger and even turn against himself. And you've done a wonderful job of revealing the hidden sorrow of Celeborn's strength. Beautiful work.

"Often she said to me 'to bear a ring of power is to be alone.' And I would say 'take it off then, and be with me.' But she would not."
That line is truly beautiful, so simple, but it illustrates so well the power of the rings.
Lovely, evocative, wonderful to see a story from the point of view of Sam and Celeborn, those who protected the ringbearers.
I commend you.

Oh, mellon-nin! I am breathless at your description of Celeborn’s first appearance to Samwise in so long. *And Lor bless me as well, if you take my meaning.* :-D “…hair the color of mithril and moonlight spilled glistening from its folds…” *Sigh*
On comfry. Indeed, that is how my comfry withers. Otherwise, it is hardy even in the scorching summer sun. Good compost, that.
Círdan remains? That is a juicy bit of information. Hm…
At your description of the ring Galadriel wore, when it seemed not necessary…this part of your tale peaks with angst and tragedy. *Sighs again with melancholy for Celeborn and Samwise.*
What a treat to perceive a wood-elf still lingering in earth…*clears throat* I mean, Middle-earth, of course. ;-)
Well done!
P.S. I can see by Celeborn's song, that he still has hope for a reunion someday... :-(
