Great fic. I'm starting to sound a little redundant in all of my reviews of your fics, but I really do enjoy your stories and your views on Tolkien's work. So for the sake of being redundant, I loved it, don't ever stop writing! =)

Great story. A much more satisfying explanation of Sting than the one in the movie weapons and warfare book. The coversation between Glorfindel and Bilbo is quite touching.
I love the irony that Frodo gets to wield the sword of Earendil in one hand and the light of Earendil in the other.

I enjoyed this story, and how you linked it to the story where Frodo meets Legolas in Mirkwood. Keep writing, you do a fine job of it.

Finally, after hours of searching, I have found another *wonderful* Glorfidel story! Thank you! *hugs author*

I wondered why no-one ever told Bilbo if Sting had a special story behind it. Glad to see that you've taken it upon yourself to tell us Sting's story. So it belonged to Eärendil! How would've thought! I liked how your portrayed Glorfindel's pain as he recounted the Fall of Gondolin - poor guy.

Thanks for such a great story!

That was lovely, just as all your stories are. :) Poor Glorfindel though, I feel sorry for him almost everytime I read about Gondolin, now. *sniffles*

Anyway, keep writing more stories!! ;)

Lovely little story, Tree! Wistful where it needed to be, amusing at other times. I liked the mentions of Legolas and his spiders. But you also did good in not playing them up too highly as they aren't the purpose of this fic. Just a sprinkle was just right.

wow. i've always wondered what lineage might Sting have come from, and you have given it a wonderful history. (though i need to refresh myself on the stuff of The Simarillion... *sheepish*) bravo! *grin*

Mae Govannen, Treehugger ~

What a beautiful tale! The true innocence of the Hobbits when contrasted with the knowledge older elves carry, the melancholy they feel, is perfectly shown here. Hobbits can ask questions such as Bilbo's precisely because they don't know, and aren't asking to be mean. Maybe that is why Bilbo is so welcomed in Imladris. :) I love the contrasts here, and you've woven a tale to remember!
Looking forward to much more.

This was enjoyable. I have a weak spot for stories that fill in the gaps between the book and the movie. Such as where Sting's runes came from.

The part about Glorfindel remembering the last time he had seen Turgon was good. So . . . tragic.

Glorfindel's history is so sad. I think you portrayed him quite well. You are very good at characterizing the people properly. It helps me form pictures of them in my mind.

I liked the reference to "In the Hall of the Wood-Elf King."

Actually, when you look at it, Sting does seem more like a short sword than a dagger. I have the impression that a dagger would be more slender. Of course, I've never possessed either one, so I'm not much of an authority on the subject.

I liked the end because I knew, of course, that Bilbo would go back to Rivendell and meet Glorfindel again.

I loved what Bilbo said about Lord Elrond. "The Hobbit knew that was the only answer he would recieve. Elves were elusive when they chose to be. That was what made them elves." That is so typical of elves.

Over all, I thought the story had a sort of Tolkienish feel to it. As if I was reading "The Hobbit" and I suddenly realized I'd missed this part.

Tree! How'd I miss this gleaming little gem? What a lovely concept!

I thought you captured Bilbo's and Glorfindel's personalities very nicely indeed. It was wonderful to think of Glamdring as Turgon's sword and Sting as Eärendil's--and how very much in keeping with Bilbo's personality that he would offer it back to Elrond. Well done, nîn mellon.

I love it! Very very nice. It's so believable. I was about to say, "Wow! So that explains why Sting is so special!" and then I realise that some of this piece was just poetic license.or was it not? Hmm.I'm unsure now. That's how convincing a writer you are.

Really, Tree. That was so vividly portrayed. Poor Glorfindel. (Gimli: ::coughcough::) *knocks Gimli on the head. uh helmet. Don't think of Gimli as a hard-hearted dwarf. He's all geared up to fight Balrogs and defend the people of Gondolin!
I'm really bowled over by your imagination! Sting as Earendil's sword. Really, Tree, one can never over estimate your creativity. I am so inpsired! (Gimli: So am I. Oh look, Seaweed's got that dreamy look she has whenever she's going to write something. You'll never imagine the number of first chapters of fics she has. All uncompleted of course.)
(Gimli: But, why do you always write about elves? Dwarves are wonderful too, right? Oh yes. You wrote about Milui. She is much more attractive than Legolas of course. I can't believe people would think that Legolas and I make a cute couple. That's really daft!) Great fic, Tree! But Gimli tends to rattle off after reading a slash fic. He needs to let off some steam. I really thank the Valar this fic. It'll give me something to do for the rest of the day. *grin*
