Dianne 2004-10-29 . chapter 1That was awesome! I love The Lord Of The Rings, books especially, except what the movie did to Faramir's character...very different. After reading Bloody Summer, I decided to read more of your stuff, and since J.R.R Tolkien and J.K.Rowling and Tamora Pierce are some of my favourite authors, to find two stories among my favourites in your list, was kind of neat. I wouldn't even know how to begin to write anything Lord Of The Rings, so that was brave, because they are very deep books. It was interesting to see this time from Frodo's point of view. I enjoyed it so much! |
BellaMonte 2004-05-16 . chapter 1I remember this story!
Hey Ash! I didn't know you had a fanfiction.net account, I recall this story fondly from Nindaiwe when it was still a working fanfiction site.
I'm so glad I found this! It's absolutely brilliant, the depth and articulation which you wrote this goes beyond what Tolkien revealed, or the movie failed to convey. Truly moving. I am freshly awed. |
Imp 2004-02-13 . chapter 1I don't tend to read the stories people write concerning Frodo and the tower above the pass of Cirith Ungol. They are most often senseless, pointless and they torment Frodo with as much zeal it seems as the orcs. This however, though it was as violent perhaps and as graphic as any, was different. It held a more realistic quality, and Frodo seemed real and hurt, whereas in others he is merely a something, for lack of better expression of it. And his resolve in this, at the end, was poignant and clear. I can't quite say what it is, that shined through in this - only that it reflected well its title: "...When All Other Lights Go Out."

Luinramwen 2003-02-13 . chapter 1This story is good. I always wanted to know what exactly happened to Frodo in Cirith Ungol before Sam came. You show a promising talent, in my opinion, which may not be worth much, but there it is. Spelling's good, grammar's good (something you don't see all that often on the Net). I think that shows that you care enough about your story to make it look good - what's the point of a good story if the author doesn't even care about it? |
shirebound 2003-02-13 . chapter 1Wow. This is astonishing; truly one of the best-written pieces I've seen here. What a masterful blending of terror and resolve and a blazing, courageous spirit. Well done. |
