God, that was absolutely amazing. I know it's an older story, but I figured I may as well let you know how I felt about this oneshot. It was so dark, yet intriguing. I loved it.

I thought that was extremly well written and i loved the poem. I especially liked how you portrayed all the Malfoy's. Lucius's mean demeanor, Draco's fear and Narcissa helplessness.

This fic is heart-breakingly sad and raw and amazingly written. The moments and the emotions you portray are so vivd and cutting in their hopelessness... almost brings me to tears, especially the ones of draco as a baby and a toddler.

It's all the more poignant because for me, the story seemed to go beyond just draco and his childhood. Maybe its the way you've written it or the way you've incorporated the song or i don't know, *something*... but i kept imagining how this could describe so well the lives of so many other kids out there.

Right form the start, its the way you use little things that made this story so ttouching. like how his mother only noticed his 'first steps' a week after he'd taken them... and his first words, said to a man who first didn't notice and then didn't care.

How Narcissa describes his eyes, "bright and alert, full of wonder and curiosity. Not cold and spiteful like those of the ones they resembled." ...
There is a 'yet' in thse words that is left unsaid. But just knowing that that tiny baby who so craved affection is going to grow up to be the cold heartless boy that we know him as... there is just such a sense of waste, of what-could-have-been in those early moments.

This is definetely my favourite fic about draco's childhood. Not in the sense that it fits the JKR canon so much (cos i think draco worships his father a little too much in the books for him to have been abused as a child... although i suppose it is possible depending on how well lucius' brain-washing worked!), but because of the way it just tugs at you heart, and well.. basically all the reasons i said above!
