| Skycroft 2008-03-01 ch 1, | abuseThat was fun indeed. I'm actually rather surprised Terry hasn't done a book on sports by now, having done movies and music and so on. |
| Samu 2008-01-31 ch 1, | abuseVery cute idea! It had me laughing the whole way, and just trying to imagine both Vimes and Ridcully in their interesting ump-hire outfits. And Vimes punching someone for trying to steal a base was priceless. |
| Kiseki no Tenshi 2006-06-17 ch 1, | abuseBrilliant story! ^_^ |
| Gestalt 2005-12-14 ch 1, | abuse*cheer* Go Wooly Sox! |
| snackfiend101 2005-04-20 ch 1, | abuseAie! Discworld baseball...I'm rooting for the "No Sox", personally *snicker*. Very funny. |
| Abigail-Nicole 2004-07-01 ch 1, | abuseOh! I liked, I liked. It was hilariously funny. It reminds me of a fic by Evadne called 'Once Upon a Freakin' Time', in which the Order of the Phoenix goes up against the Death Eaters in a baseball game. It's hilarious. |
| Lyra Silvertongue2 2003-03-29 ch 1, | abuseFour words: Laughing My ** ** Off. (Pardon my Klatchian) |
| Casira 2003-03-09 ch 1, | abuseThis is fantastic. clever and in character, and delightfully absurd. Thanks for posting -- I loved it! |
| Ponder Stibbons 2003-03-06 ch 1, | abuseThis is absolutely brilliant, one of the best fanfics I've read yet and fully worthy of PTerry himself, please please _please_ do a sequel, I'd like to see Vetinari's aunt sponsor a team, and maybe bring Lady Margolotta(sp?) in for a cameo? This is hillarious. |
| Ysabet 2003-02-28 ch 1, | abuse**grins** Your fics have, for the moment, become a large part of my lunchtimes! Yay; computers in the workplace HAVE improved the quality of our lives! This one was highly entertaining, even for a non-sports type like me. I wonder how Vimes would like Hurley (you know, Irish Golf? Great big sticks and a leather ball)? The bit where he punched the assassin at the end was beautifully in character, you know. Thanks for a good read! |
| Clanker 2003-02-23 ch 1, anon. | abuseActually, Be'Jammin, Scrappy was refering to cricket. You don't see a lot of Baseball in Australia, but you see to much cricket. Trust me. I should know. |
| fan of tp 2003-02-23 ch 1, anon. | abuseBravo! very very good (as usual). u know what a possible sequel could be? the arrival of another stick and ball game- cricket! |
| Be'Jammin 2003-02-22 ch 1, | abuseRincewind would be good, he'd be a great base runner, the only problem would be getting him to stop, and i think that the Librarian would be a better pitcher then the Dean. But it's a pretty good story, Scrappy did say to Rincewind, 'All you have to do is be great at some bat and ball game no one has invented yet, and you'd be a god.' But this is a very good story and i could see Leonard da Quirm inventing it as well. Write More Soon. |
| samvimes 2003-02-22 ch 1, anon. | abuseHallo everyone. Yes, a male fanfic writer you say? Stranger things have happened, but not many :) Thank you all for your kind reviews. It was so much fun to write this. I realized, too, that I missed possibly the most perfect pun ever. I could have made a team called the "Ankhees". Intrasonic, unfortunately I could never send any baseball team on strike, it breaks my heart to see selfish atheletes wanting limitless amounts of cash. So what would /your/ dream team be, gentle reviewers? I mean, on the one hand, Dorfl and Detritus could almost certainly hit home runs every time they hit the ball, but I doubt either is very good in the field -- Detritus is too slow and Dorfl isn't good at instantaneous decision making. Angua'd make a great outfielder, but she'd have to stifle the urge to catch the ball in her teeth when she was at bat. Ponder is one of Nature's Catchers, but he'd probably be afraid of hitting the ball. And vampires should probably be a bit leery around a baseball bat. Nobby, as is mentioned, has no strike zone and is probably good at stealing bases, he nicks everything else. Susan.yes! I imagine she'd be quite the batter, and probably a decent outfielder. Dwarves, of course, make great.wait for it. .shortstops. And I always pictured Vimes as a competent but not very outstanding all-round athelete, never the star but a dependable clean-up hitter. Igor could be catcher, he's got more fingers to signal with, and besides nothing you do to him can make him any worse (I played catcher a few seasons for an intramural team, and have the brain-damage to prove it). But seriously, can you imagine Esme Weatherwax in a baseball cap? Or Vetinari spitting and ::cough:: adjusting himself? Some things are too terrifying to contemplate. |
| Dru 2003-02-22 ch 1, anon. | abuseYep, I'm quite certain that Leonard da Quirm *could* destroy a city with a bat and ball. *grins* Very cute piece. By the way, thanks for making it abundantly clear that you're male. I was assuming that you were a girl because I rarely come into contact with male authors. Write something new for us soon! |
