Late to this party, but very, very impressed. These were the reactions that we didn't get to see. True characterizations, dialogue that would have fit perfectly on-screen, and a catharsis that the series never showed. Beautifully done. The last line rang, and made me stop crying. Lovely endpoint.

I can't remember if I've given you proper feedback on this story yet, but I've just gotta say - this is *wonderful.* Well-written, and VERY well characterized. I think it's a shame in some respects that the episodes themselves do not show this kind of follow-through, but then I realize they only have about 42 minutes a week to get their point across. So, for real, I'm *glad* there's no time, because it gives people like you a chance to really shine. Well done.

Absolutely wonderful story--one of the best I've ever read on this site, as a matter of fact. I'm a huge West Wing fan but I've been intimidated against writing fan fiction because I didn't think anyone could nail the characters the way Sorkin does, but you've proved me wrong and I think now I may try my hand at it. CJ, whose personality is occasionally underdeveloped on the show, came alive in your story, and you added an important element to a near-perfect episode. Toby, Sam, Josh, Charlie, Leo, and the President were all completely in-character, and Simon's personality came across strongly despite not actually being alive during the story.

My only suggestion is that you may want to consider changing the R rating on the story to a PG or PG-13 if you want to reach a broader audience. Thank you for writing such a wonderful piece.
