| Saggit 2005-06-01 ch 4, anon. | abuseYour three future-Xander stories are the only ones I've read that made me want to read more, let alone read them. I suspect this is because your Xander is a not illogical outgrowth of the Zeppo, changed by time and task: grimmer, more responsible, not so sure he should be the last one standing. The carefully calculated preparation is both in character and specific to his skill set. The humor is darker, and a bit more focused. (And very, very well written.) The anger and despair are still there, just better understood and used. The first of the series is the best, IMO, because of the brilliant idea of having Xander act as a sort Angelus-like psychopomp, causing the second death of the young girl Dru had been. I could wish his emotions subsequent to that had been a bit better explored, though I suspect his actions--taking Dru as a lover--were as much about debt repayment as they were about gambling with death. In any case, well written, paced, and extra points for character insight. |
| Elaine 2005-02-24 ch 4, anon. | abusevery enjoyable story! I love a good "Xander saves the world" story |
| wouldntyoulike2know 2003-08-19 ch 4, anon. | abusenice and i repeat that a thousand times a great dark and humorous style with deep emtion and seemingly origonal characters. just great. |
| pj 2003-05-09 ch 4, anon. | abuseI really enjoyed the different look at saving the world. you gave a compassionate look at Dru and at what Xander had to do. Very well done |
| Hitmanhand 2003-03-22 ch 4, | abuseIt was a good story, though I think the first one was better, this one seemed more rushed. I hope you write more in this series, it's a new approach to Xander, and I like it. I'd loved to see how his and Dawn's relationship started. |
| Jason Thompson 2003-03-18 ch 4, | abuseThis was incredible. One of the best Dru/Xander stories I think I ever read. |
| Mad Minute 2003-02-28 ch 4, | abuse. and here I swore I'd never feel compassion for a vampire. I realise that what Xander did was kind'a needful(!), but destroying Drusilla like that - she was one of the most piteous things I've ever seen in a fic. First-class work, mahaliem. Tightly plotted, well-paced, superbly characterised - and just screaming for more details about what happened to Xander and the rest of the gang. :-J |
| RobClark 2003-02-27 ch 4, | abuseExcellent ending, but I was kinda hoping to find out what happened to the scoobs. Oh well, next one? Rob |
| Jane Davitt 2003-02-27 ch 4, | abuseThat was great. Poor Dru and clever, ruthless Xander. And we still don't know what happened; this is too cruel! I know Dawn lived but what about the others? Write more, soon, please. |
| Teri 2003-02-26 ch 3, | abuse“No one special. Just a carpenter.” “Let me know if you ever need my help. I have a special fondness for carpenters.” I really loved that part. Really enjoyed your first story and am glad you are working on this prequel. Nice work. Thanks! |
| RobClark 2003-02-26 ch 3, | abuseThis is going great, and getting better. Great chapter. Rob |
| Jane Davitt 2003-02-26 ch 3, | abuseMore glimpses of something bad in the past.ominous. Loved Xander's litany of past trials endured, not to mention the way he took out the boss. |
| Jane Davitt 2003-02-26 ch 2, | abusePoor Xander. Just what _is_ it with him and the demons? And lovely gruesome Dru story |
| Jane Davitt 2003-02-26 ch 1, | abuseI'm so glad you're filling in the back story like this. I also forgot to mention how much I like the quotations from Xander's books. This is shaping up beautifully; lots of humour, lots of angst, lots of sex. 'Evil would use flannel sheets'. Heh. |
| RobClark 2003-02-26 ch 2, | abuseGood chapter, very humorous. Rob |
