lychee loving 2/25/11 . chapter 1You are my hero for saving Jean by writing this meta on her. I kind of wish every character on the show were so lucky - so many writers over-exaggerate certain aspects of their personalities... Jean somehow drew the short stick and is widely attacked by everyone ever, which is never fair.
So, yes. This was a well-done piece. A bit too angsty, I think, but given everything that Jean's had to deal with, understandable. |
Dawns Heart 3/2/07 . chapter 1That's the everlasting question isn't it? Who are any of us...? |
vine 1/17/06 . chapter 1Wow, that's a cool little Jean fic. I love how you portrayed her.
I also love the idea of t all. Jean's a little overlooked in fanfiction. This is the first good Jean fic I've read. And it is GOOD. |
Ambrosia 11/17/03 . chapter 1 Oh gosh, that is SO true. She's completely in ur face in that she's involved everywhere, in every thing on the show, and yet there's not much to her that you get to see at all. Pretty, popular, serene, helpful, but there's no *defining* characteristics that are really her own. Everyone else is more fun and interesting, because of their flaws & subsequent idiosyncrasies, kinda. But just quickly - "burgeoning mutant powers do not a pleasant mix make." - why the word inversion? Is that some thing that people really do say..? It was in that fic with Kurt and Her, and maybe somewhere else, and it's strange, is all. It confuses me. The frequency makes me think that mayhaps it is intentional and I'm just missing something so I can't see how it fits. Odd. Anyhow. yes, the fic, so very true! Jean is completely cursed with her... *near*-perfect Appearance, isn't she? And it's easy to understand where the angst comes from too, because its plain that she's sort of ashamed of herself for having to feel this way when there's no trauma for her to blame safely, she was never abandoned at a young age by her dysfunctional family and shuffled back and forth between fosters with no one to love her, her parents weren't mad scientific geniuses who experimented on her until she was lost, she wasn't locked in away in a sanitarium for the better part of her memorable childhood years.. She's a mutant, but so is everyone else, and they're all perfectly fine and coping, so what's her excuse..? she never got to have it nearly as bad as any of her mutant peers, so it seems that she doesn't really have the right to break down a little because she has everything that everyone else wants, so she should be fine and as close to perfection as you could hope to find, and how bizarre is it that she should almost wish that there was some traumatic episode or reason that she could point to when she feels sad and wrong and Outside of it all, just as the others can and do, and feel a little assured that there's some thing she can blame; that she really has been "damaged" in some way and it's not just her alone being weak and stupid and upset about being Better... |
The Phantom 11/9/03 . chapter 1Wow. Simply magnificent. Jean is such a great character when you just dig into her and lay her open like a frog in biology class. I did not just say that. o.O
But really. Great fic. I really, really liked the brief touch on why she doesn't have a code name. Mad props to that.
Bravo!

hnh 10/22/03 . chapter 1I liked it-Jean is too often either overlooked or relentlessly bashed. It's time people actually paid attention to her for who she is. |
Black Arachne 9/17/03 . chapter 1Wow, that was an amazing story. I usually don't like fiction about Jean Grey. Due to her less than life like personage, but you have give her some depth and made her seem less plastic and more vivid. Anyway thank you for the story. |
Nix-13 6/16/03 . chapter 1 Hey, loved your story.I never thought about Jean in that perspective before. It's kind of been done before, preppy girl who doesn't really know who she is and is feeling lonely inside. But I still think it's good |
Yma 3/10/03 . chapter 1 Wow, I helped inspire a fic! And such a good one too! I feel so proud! Yeah, this is a bril fic, thing I love most about your, Scrib, is you have this ability to do all these different styles, and make all of them look good. Congrats, I look forward to seeing more of your work (and I look forward to the nutboard comeing back on line, though when that will be I have no idea, soon I hope.) |
me 3/1/03 . chapter 1 Go Scribbley! :) Yet another wonderful work of art for us to enjoy!
Is it just me or is there something up with Nutty's sight? I havent been able to get into it for a few days :S |
idsunki 3/1/03 . chapter 1Always good to see some psychological motivation of the characters. I think you should give this style another shot, see where it takes you.
I just caught a few grammatical errors, but nothing that couldn't really be passed off as narrative license (the narrator's thought process, not your writing error). The important part is that I didn't see any glaring errors to distract me from the story, which is a huge mark in its favor.
-idsunki, with the mad props to the Kurt Vonnegut Jr quote. |
 Phoenvix 3/1/03 . chapter 1One word: Beautiful! |
Misc25 2/28/03 . chapter 1thats really nice scrib, so many characters of evo are blatently ignored or characterized so vagely. it's nice to see an indepth look at one of those characters and her doubts and troubles. good job. |
Dark Void 2/28/03 . chapter 1 Wow.so deep. That was really cool, I love it when people turn charecters upside down. I love it, and just for the heck of it, I love Of Beast and Blade too. Its great and I can't wait for more. |
