Kantama
2009-08-03 . chapter 10
Beautiful work. It's so easy to forget the other dancers considering all we really see is Satine and Nini's pettiness at the most. To learn who they are as people is a lovely thing, and your work rings true.

Bravo, my dear. Bravo.

this is such an intricately woven tale. I especially love Spanish.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this before. This is stunning. I love the depth you've given to all the can can girls, even the most obscure ones. You make them all seem like real historical figures, people that I'd like to read more about. It's such a shame that you haven't continued these, because each one is truly lovely and I would absolutely love to see what you could write about the others. Still, most of my favourites have been done.

My favourite pieces so far are Juno, Travesty, Harlequin and especially Schoolgirl. Thanks to this fic they are now among my favourite characters (though I admit I always liked Schoolgirl).

I wish there was more.

Oh, dear...please tell me that the muse has not totally abandoned the Diamond Dogs! I really do enjoy this story, and would like to see it completed.

I love rereading your work. There's always a fresh detail to catch or a new angle to look at. Your language is gorgeous, too. You have amazing insight, doll. Your girls are wonderful.

Yes, I’m reading this again. I just adore it so. I know you don’t like this story but darling, how could you not? It’s original and beautifully crafted. And each of your girls is a bit off and twisted in their own gorgeous way. You make them human. They’re strange and fascinating and _real_. I will be reviewing more as I reread. This deserves heaps of praise. You are lovely.

I'm so glad to see you pick up this story again, although I was half-expecting from the clues you dropped before that Juno's story would be a little happier than it turned out to be. I hope to see more chapters in the near future -- still waiting for Urchin, Liberty, and Babydoll!

Your work transcends words.
Thank you.

Pure excellence. Where did you find everyone's names?
I really think you should do the Four Whores, if you can. They'd be as fascinating as anyone, and the only one we get a really strong sense of in the movie is Nini.

I do hope the muse has not decided to desert the Diamond Dogs...I'm still waiting eagerly for the next installment! Only half the squad has been done, by my reckoning -- Juno, Gypsy, Urchin, Liberty, Historic, Antoinette, Polka Dot, Baby Doll, French Maid, and Pearly Queen are still in the wings!

My favorite Rouge authoress is back -- merci, mon amie!!

It's wonderful to see how you've brought some of these characters out -- especially those like Tartan or Spanish, who really don't get much attention in the movie. Some of them are easy to peg -- there's no way that Tattoo or Travesty could be anything other than brazen to the core from what we see in the movie, and it would be hard to believe someone named Dominatrix could be anything but fierce. Much harder to do with someone like Tartan, whom we don't get to see much. I'm eagerly awaiting the rest of your stories -- especially Urchin, Liberty, Historic, and Antoinette!

I love these vignettes!! You're a great storyteller. Keep going.
La Marionette de Chine

Oh, well done, Yviivyyviivy. *applause* You spin out her history concisely, without dipping into the overly-flowery cliche phrases, the telling of the fire is bitter and accurate-sounding although sparse of necessity since she probably wasn't attention-to-detail-girl at the time.

My favourite moments were, I think, her turning away from the church -- and her sporran with her sister's ashes in it. You've enough funny in it to balance out the trauma, so I really don't see any reason at all to yank it up to R-rated. Unless you wanted to. Of course, then you'd have to write more filth, lies, and sordid sex... ;)
