I wouldn't say it was depressive, though 'normal' definitely doesn't do justice to the story. It was melancholic I think ; a beautifully described set of scenes covered in a veil of sadness that never really erupts. Or maybe I'm too dense to taste it fully. A lovely read anyway, that left me smiling for no reason at all.
