sielge 2004-08-05 . chapter 2 I like your writing! This trilogy is fantastic! Thanks for sharing it! |
Yavie Feels Pretty 2004-02-08 . chapter 2Oh, that was so EXCELLENT! Great job, I loved how you portrayed Eowyn. She's so fun to write stories about, isn't she? |
Rose Sared 2003-11-19 . chapter 2I realise that this review is late but what a wonderful little trilogy. Your take on all three characters is just flawless even as you show their difficulties and emotions.
I bow in awe.
glad to have got to this at last, I'll be reading it again I am sure, soon.
Thanks a lot

wellduh... 2003-07-22 . chapter 2 Wow. Am rushed, and must go soon. but I reread this just now, and it's still as great as ever. |
Dot1 2003-07-22 . chapter 2I shouldn't have read that 'cos I had managed to ignore the fact that the dvd is out next month and now you've got me all excited again!
I agree with Sphinx's remarks; I wouldn't tend to read Eowyn fics either, she just never appealed to me for some reason. But this, of course, is wonderful! You really kept her character true to canon and her strength shone through, even in her despair.
I particularly like the beautiful relationship she has with her brother - that was so well done.
And for me the best thing about the second chapter of this story is that we get a deeper glimpse into the feelings of both Legolas and Aragorn than in their own versions, due completely to Eowyn's observations. Brilliant!:)
I have to run to work now so I'm saving the next chapter of Broken Sky til I get back in a few hours! |
Sphinx 2003-07-22 . chapter 2Well, she certainly can hang with the boys, as you've proved...:)
I liked this. Eowyn's not my most beloved character by far, and I generally dont read much fanfic solely centered around her, but this was really very good.
Its strange, you know? She's arguably one of the two strongest female characters in LOTR (in which Arwen isnt included because of sheer lack of ink and page space, but that's another story!). She is the quintessential rebel, a very, very strong woman, AND she gets to fight. But the Muse, (And the mind!) move in odd ways, and she just doesnt interest me very much.
On the other hand, when something like THIS is written...well, you change my viewpoint for that time while I read this. I did like her bravery here, and that conversation with Legolas was just heartbreaking.
You seem to be hooked to the Elf, huh? It would explain the slight emphasis Legolas got in this version over the previous one. Not that I'm complaining, but as long as there's a certain Ranger about in sufficient quantities, Legolas is free to remain! :)
Had such a hectic day, will not even start on it...if I did, this wouldnt remain very nice for you to read.:) Sorry for the delay over the mail you sent, but will get back to it when I get an hour to breathe.
As always, lovely! |
JastaElf 2003-07-21 . chapter 2Joanna, that was lovely! You keep Eowyn so wonderfully canonical, and true to herself as Tolkien wrote her to be, something that is not often done in fanfic. Brava!!
loved the bit with Legolas's tears... very moving! As was the bit at the end where she is relieved to see Aragorn standing tall again, even if it is because of the inspiration of another woman. A very nice touch, that!
Beautiful story; thank you for sharing it with us! |
Liz 2003-07-05 . chapter 1 Definitely my favorite, though I love all three parts of the trilogy. Lovely moment between Eomer and Eowyn early on. Thank you for that. And you know how I feel about Legolas, so I'll refrain for typing out my fangirl moment here. Just...wow. Beautiful. Moving. Hopeful. You have a gift. |
rohan-nitpick 2003-07-03 . chapter 1Very very well done. Almost reconciles me to the movie version! |
dirgesinthedark 2003-05-06 . chapter 1I'm speechless...boy, I'm sure glad that I stumbled across your author profile when I was searching...
Speechless. Really.
But expect a better review from me on your other stories soon, because I'm adding you to fave authors. |

frosta 2003-03-26 . chapter 1 I have not read the other two stories, but I assure you I am on the way... interesting perspective of Eowyn... it humanizes her without coming off as over the top or a weeping mess. Bravo |
