Very good start to this story. I'm looking forward to seeing the future chapters that emerge as your writer's block clears. May I recommend "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. Working with what she calls "Morning Pages" helped me clear the writer's block that hit while I was caring for my mother until her death, and that then persisted while I was grieving after her death.
