WOW! So beautifully written... not only do you have a gift of humour, but an incredible gift for poetry as well. This hit the spot for me. There used to be this big, open field next to my house. It went of for miles. Now it's a horrible, noisy freeway. All the fields in my town are being consumed as well. Just yesterday, we were driving by some of them and my dad pointed out that a new mall would be built there. My sisters were excited, but all I could ask was "Why? What's the point?"

I think this poem spoke to everyone. Such a wonderful achievement. I wish others could see things the way you do. Tolkien himself would've appreciated this.
Samus 2003-05-23 . chapter 1
Wow. It had some rhythm problems and what seemed like some forced rhyming, but it was still really good. I often feel that same sadness when I see that kind of thing. Poem was very sad, but very nice.
Lthien Arnatuil 2003-04-27 . chapter 1

TK The Tenacious 2003-04-21 . chapter 1
*Cries* Oh, that was beautiful. Wonderful rhymes! It all blends together wonderfully to transform you to a world that once was. All to often I have reflected on Ent's and the sorrow that they would under go in this day and age.

You captured it splendidly. Breath taking. An excellent acomplishment in poetry! Well done! I think it's your best yet! (Aside from "Land of the Wee Folk") ;)

Well written...I enjoyed this...
It was a great idea, to put modern desolation of the forests in to the view of an Ent...

That was wonderful! A brillant display of poetic talent. You used moving descriptions and even caused me to search for my "Save A tree; Eat a Beaver" shirt. Lol, not but really, that was terrific, keep writing. I love the concept, and your use of words and imagery was awesome. Bravo!
TheImmortalIris 2003-04-17 . chapter 1
That was sad... but beautiful! You're a great poet. It really made me feel sad about the trees and forest that are brought down for buildings. Write more of this stuff!!
St.CathrineEvangelineWoodsorel 2003-04-17 . chapter 1
Wow, this was really beautiful. And sad...really sad. It totally fits my depressed mood, and certainly didnt make me feel much better. You are talented in the ways of verse; keep it up. Very melancholy theme to touch on. I liked it very much.
Orangeblossom Took1 2003-04-17 . chapter 1
*sobs* That is very beautiful and very sad. It reminds me that the last stand of trees on a highway near me is being cut down for a Lowe's store. *sobs again for the pines, oaks, dogwoods, ect.*
Mebrireth 2003-04-17 . chapter 1
Oh, lovely and sad, nicely done. Written very well and flowed together very nicely. And though I don't normally like rhyming poems as they tend to be corny due to the author using any word that will fit, I found yours to be delightfully done. No corniness and the words fit together perfectly. So I will merely sound like a broken record here and again, nicely done. And it's such a sad topic because I can readily relate to it, I live in the desert and it's all being torn up for development. Poor trees, and poor ent! You have a talent here, I'm glad you wrote the poem. You took something from Tolkien and placed it believably into the real world. One more time, well done!
