I don't agree-I don't think he's out of character. At least, not within the scope of the potential for his character. We all know that Henry Higgins has a tender side. That's why we like him ;) And probably why Eliza likes him. I loved reading how, within that slow journey through the house, he comes to realize how much he cares for her, and the realization (which terrifies him) that he might be in love. Brilliantly done, very vividly and sensitively written. I enjoyed it immensely.

I love the way you write Henry's thoughts. I can hear Rex Harrison's velvet tones from beyond the grave...guilty pleasure of mine. (Musicals geek, sittin right here!)

I really *really* wish they could've ended the movie better, I especially disliked the closing line. Still it's Henry Higgins plain and simple, he wouldn't let her have the satisfaction of knowing that he wanted her to stay. Your addition did well to redeem him, a lovably dispicable character. :-)

I liked it very much.
I like the way you phrased Higgin's thoughts showing his struggle for clarity in thought and feelings. It took a couple of re-reads to get the gist but it was done really well.
I had purchased the DVD recently and am delighted to see some good fic attempts here.
Bravo Sekhnaht!

Oh my gosh. This is fantastic! Wow, if this doesn't have a million reviews, it certainly deserves them. A touch out of character - maybe twice, no more - but so slightly it's barely noticable! I loved this to pieces! Bravo!

This is a wonderful story. And I think Henry was very much in character. I love all the little details you put in, from the Eliza's writing to the label on the recording of her voice. It makes it seem like this really was his thoughts as he walked through the empty house. So realistic. And the little hints of his temper and frustrations in his thoughts made me laugh, so like him they were. I especially love his thoughtsabout his mother, and how he didn't think of Eliza as a woman becuase she disgusted his mother at first. Brilliant. I love it.

I loved it! Henry was as much in character as a Henry-in-love could possibly be!

Well, he might be slightly OOC, but that's okay. After all, to quote a completely different genre, "love makes you do the wacky." Henry of course wouldn't be 100 percent himself after thinking Eliza was going to be gone.

"Henry hoped Pickering would leave for India soon. There was only so much one could talk about Indian dialects."
Why would Higgins want Pickering to go back to India?
*sob* This is all wrong. Higgins loves Pickering. He's the only one who'll let him rant at him about phonetics.
Sorry, but i'm a purist and i have to get over the initial shock of Henry/Eliza.
It's a great fic though. Nicely written, people should write more MFL fic. Although the ending is gloriously ambiguous, which allows those of us (we are few) who think she should marry Freddy keep are sanity and enjoy the musical as much as the play.

What a loverly job you did with this! My Fair Lady is my second favorite musical!! However, I prefer the Original Broadway Cast soundtrack. (Julie Andrews as Eliza.) Anyways, this review shouldn't be about my opinions. I love the song I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face and I think you did an excellent job interpreting Henry's feelings behind the words. Thanks for writing such a wonderful My Fair Lady fic!! They are so hard to find!

Gawn, love it! WOW! I love MFL - it's my fave. That was loverly, but I agree, you could have said a lot more, however, that was just loverly. Loverly. Especially the bit at the end about him tipping his hat over his eyes. That was so cute!

Amazingly enough, I haven't yet seen the musical, but I *have* read the original "Pygmalion", and I thought this story was marvellous. Henry is very much in character, even considering the liberties that the librettists must have taken with the plot. Bravo.
