Beautiful. I too have always felt so terrible for Gilina. She was so pure, so innocent, so willing to give up everything just so John and Aeryn could live. I really love what you put at the bottom about Gilina being like the real Little Mermaid. I always loved that story (not the Disney version) but never realized the connection. You really get a sense of grief from all that Gilina has been put through... to give up on someone she obviously cared about because, even though he did care about her, it just wasn't in the same way...

I feel for Gilina, and you brought that out in this fiction brilliantly. Please write more!

Very well written. Sad. Had me wanting Crichton to notice her in the worst way. It kind of trailed off there at the end. Any chance of a sequal? Now that I've read that I want to see those two together. Great.

Poignant, sad, and yet I loved how it never crossed into sap. I never cared much for Gilina, I pitied her, but this made that guilt ten times worse. Excellent work, simply and brilliantly done.
