2007-05-18 . chapter 15
Wonderfully written. Their angst, their feelings, their thoughts and decisions and interactions, I felt that it all fit in well. That is, I didn't find any aspect to be overdone... well, except possibly Miho. She's so all-knowing and omniscent, anticipating and manipulating everything they did, as if they were marionettes. She's... too powerful, in my mind. Excellent story, anyway.

Best work? I'm in no position to judge, as I've not read your longer and more major works, but of everything that I have read, this was your best.

I assume that Lonely Hearts must've been deleted... too bad. Um, well, it's been just over 4 years... does that offer to email it to anyone interested still stand? If so, I'd love to read it! My email address is mikemak16@yahoo(dot)com. Thank you if you can send it!

Well, though I come a touch too late, it greatly saddens me to see you go. I doubt that you will ever see or hear this review, but regardless, you have my respect as an author. Granted, I'm not much of an author, but you are. I have gone through several of your stories and they are a standard that will measure many fanfics to come. If you still are keeping tabs here on what may come from the reviews of your stories. I have a humble request. If you would like to know more, my e-mail is

That's not a real review, but I really feel there is something amiss when a guy like you retracts all his texts like this.

I have no idea about what upset you so much, but it must be really striking. got Naru-Punched ?

If you're up to it... explanations are welcome on my mail box.

In any case, fare thee well.

I thought you were gonna continue on that one story what was it again?... Um...let's see... ah yes, "Bitterness"(wow, that took five minutes)
Why don't you finish it?
And don't call it a goodbye, 'cause I hate goodbye's. Think of it...uh...as a...uh...hm...yeah that's it!
Think of it as a temporary retirement!
So please tell Kanako to post your answer in her next chapter's review page. ^__^

Today is a sad day in FF.net. We have lost a Great author. But as for you question I have also reached a tie: This fic and Love Sada. I would love to read Lonely Hearts..so if you could just send it to my e-mail I thank you.
It will not be the same without you, Kana-san.
You have inspired many of us with your works.
You will not be replaced by anyone for there is only ONE Kana Himezaki-Urashima! Good Luck in what life brings your way and my happiness be there too.

2003-05-10 . chapter 15
Just read the final chapter for the third time in a row, and I still don't have a clue where to begin this review.

Okay. As an overview... this story is one of the best I have ever read. Your exploration of shôjo-ai relationships is, frankly, quite amazing; the nuances present in this story create a stunning realism. Language and structure have been consistently sophisticated, and the emotional impact is phenomenal.

Ch14 is no exception to this - there is so much great imagery here. Kanako and Motoko's confrontation at Hinata Sô is still and quiet, and utterly tense, just like the looming storm described. The "broken souls" refreshes the sadness of Ch8: Broken and the chess reference does likewise for Miho's Diaries. Indeed, the mood of this scene is almost ethereal: the intensity of the senses with the "deathly hum of the engine" and the hands like water, all elusive and strangely calm.

The likening of the bags to lead weights is apt, and Miho appears right on sinister cue. Her consistent use of -chan is disturbing, and complements the eternal smile well - her role is outstanding. Tatu's "All the Things She Said" is a very neat framework for the remainder of the chapter, as it punctuates the emotional journey.

From here on in the quality of writing shoots from high to off the meter. Each sentence feels individually crafted, and the rhythm is flawless. In particular, this line struck me: "Stoic, cold, unreadable, secretive, this was Maehara Miho without the façade of the smile she wore like a mask." The scene evokes incredible pathos with Kanako at her most desperate hour.

The language that accompanies Shinobu's entry into the chapter emanates the warmth and light associated with her character. The tone shifts from painfully hard to tenderness itself, and with this, Kanako's delivery is complete. "There she stood, Kanako’s angel, her saving grace." Beautiful line.

And with Miho's last whisper, a great sense of wholeness is acheived.

Sincerely regret that this is your last story. As you can see, I have a very high opinion of your work. A comeback would be welcome at any time o.- I have not included here my vote for the peak of your writing, because I haven't had a chance to refresh my memory of some of the stories yet. I also have not read 'Lonely Hearts'. When I have done all this, I will most definitely venture an opinion. Thank you for writing this story o.-

2003-05-09 . chapter 15
Well... we were frequently at odds, rarely saw eye to eye, and occasionally sparred in emails, but overall I think I'm glad I took the time to read your various works (with the possible exception of "Love Sada", which I knew to stay far away from), and I'm flattered that you extended the same courtesy to me. You're a talented writer without question, especially to do so in a tertiary language, and while at one time I might have been tempted to say we'd be better off without you, I know now that isn't the case. For every time you ruthlessly shot a hole in my delicate ego, you made me laugh or nod in appreciation at least three or four times.

As for your best work, I believe you were truly at the top of your game when you wrote Black And White. There's nothing overwrought, phony or unnecessarily sentimental about the storytelling in it, like there seems to be in so many "romantic" fanfictions, nor is there any question about whether it's worth it to let it take up six or seven hours of one's life reading it, rather it's the internet equivalent of "can't put the book down"... it's *that* good. I think it's influenced--and WILL influence--a lot of writers here. I can only wonder if Akamatsu will ever get a whiff of it...

Best of luck to you in whatever you do, wherever you do it... and know that I will still be cursing and shaking my fist futilely at you every single time another one of the authors here refers to my beloved Naru as a "cockroach." ;P

I have read it, but... Could I get a copy of the extended version? Inserted directly into the email, of course...

And so ends the legacy of Kana Himekazi-Urashima, the self-proclaimed (and justified) dark author of Love Hina. Fitting, though I sincerely hope that Kanako can find some way to bring you back ^_^

I, personally, have reached a tie: This fic, and Love Sada, I rate as the best works of yours. But hey, maybe I just wanted to see Naru die...
