I know this sounds out of place (he obviously wasn't what the story was concerned with) but poor Alloran. I mean, think about it. In the KAA "ending", he lived, which I thought was one of the good things about that book. But in this one, seconds, maybe even less, after he's freed, he's killed. By a human. Not a human-controller, either. Now that is sad, good writting.
