Wow. This is a really great story, I definately enjoyed it. Your writing style is good, too. I liked the whole cookie thing, it was funny.
While I don't mean to sound picky, a review isn't a review without criticism, and there were a few things I noticed that could be improved on. First, those periods that are in the middle of sentences.. that should be changed. If you are trying to emphasize a word in the sentence, use bold or capital letters, and if you're trying to make a pause, use '...' instead of simply one period. Secondly, I thought Charlene could have been described a bit more, and maybe had a bit more of a part in the story. And lastly, there were a few times where the story just jumped straight from one scenario to another. That could prove to be confusing to most readers, so you should make it known when you are jumping to a different time or place.
Overall though, I thought this is a really great story, with fairly well-developed characters and an impactful, emotional ending. Good job.
