Oh so beautiful

I don't have a clue how I missed this when it was posted (maybe because it was MY birthday and I was out partying), but you've got me sniffling. Great stuff!

Poor Max! One of my big regrets about DA is the almost complete lack of insight regarding Max’s existential torment - nice to see some of it here in a VS3 companion piece. Poignant, well structured. As always, your description is vivid(‘Her eyes were deep shadows, save for the twin images of the simple flame...’). You have a cinematic flair for the textual rendering of the quality of the light at any given moment - very interesting. This is killer:

‘"I-I didn't get a cake……but I thought……wherever……whatever……she is……"
"You thought you could give her a birthday candle," Logan finished for her...’

Excellent! A great fic of the emotions Max doesn't share with Logan in VS3 which she should. Very saddening, you captured the real heart of the story and filled it with emotion. Well Done.

I hadn't read this in the reruns. Kinda wishing I did now. This is depressingly wonderful, and a testament to the heart of the characters. Good job!
