This is so beautiful! Sad, but beautiful and with some hope to the end.

I suppose it's pointless to reiterate what everyone else has said about this fic. Its beauty, its desperate, heart-rending sorrow so effortlessly mingled. And all written with an elegance that gently lifts the reader away to a place, a time, an existance long forgot. To say that I wept while reading it, well, that's pointless too. You already know how easily your words move us short-lived mortals to tears.

The image of the elves speeding away from Gondor, as though to recapture the spirit of the man their both loved so dearly, but for so brief a time...that's what will stay for me, I think. You know, it's strange...I've been a lover of Middle-Earth for many years now. And yet, I never realised this about the elves...they can never let go. They cannot stop loving. There is no mourning, acceptance and then continuation with life, and eventually an ultimate sparing from grief through death. They are immortal. They can't forget love. Theirs is a pain from which there is no escape. Arwen was never going to be part of the eternal world of her children or her husband, though their lives are but a blink of an eye in her lifespan. She knew once she gave her love to Aragorn, there would be no return to an unburdened existance. She would bear the wound of his death and the weight of her love until the end of all things.

You made me realise all this with a few simple sentences. How lucky you are to possess such a gift. How lucky we all are that words such as this are immortal, though we are not.

Such beauty and happiness, such sadness, but at the very end, such joy and relief. "And in escaping the circle of the world, she completed her own." I was in tears at this line. Wonderful writing...

*wipes tears from her eyes* This so sad and so sweet. Very well written. Poor Arwen. She loved Aragorn so much. I will come back later to read the next chapter and your other stories.

I loved this story. I was moved to tears. My favorite part had to be at the end when a young Aragorn took Arwen away. It painted a beautiful picture. You've taken a beautiful scene out of Tolkein and made it even more beautiful. You have a gift. I especially liked hoe Eldarion let Arwen go, so to speak. He understands how she cannot be without Aragorn. Eldarion is a good strong character. It would be nice to see a story about him. Also the Legolas part was touching. Thank you.

Okay, Jo, I'm going to sit here quietly for a moment, and as soon as I've managed to stifle my tears, I'll email you in more detail.

Beautiful, stirring, just lovely. You capture Arwen's feelings perfectly. I do feel that Legolas was given a bit of a short shrift here, but there are plenty of fics that address his feelings when Aragorn died. "Last Grey Ship," by ErinRua, is one of the best of those. But too few people have really delved into Arwen's experiences, and this is very welcome.

Cannot believe I never reviewed this here...and how much more of an idiot could I be...

I'm re-reading this because am in a slightly strange mood...just need to read more than write, I guess.

Do I need to say more than what i already told you? of all your works, its this one that I can truly say makes me realize what a novice I am and what a pro you are.

Even, as you said, you didnt put in Aragorn's death scene (and I'm actually thankful for that, because if you had, no one would bother to read mine), it was just so wonderfully, wonderfuly emotional. And I believe you...YOU 'get' Arwen. And you also 'get' Legolas.

All the more reason for me to drool over this.

Possibly my very favourite of all your works.

I told you, dont mind me...strange mood...but true words.
