The cross is the symbol of Jesus' willingness to die for humanity. Christians believe that when he died on the cross, he atoned for man's sins. The cross is a symbol of death which because of Jesus we no longer must fear. If Jesus had lived and died in the modern age billions of people might be wearing little electric chairs around their necks.

I'm not Christian, but I think the reason why people see the cross as a holy object other than a "killing weapon" is because *ok how should I describe this..?* I guess it's to symbolize Jesus' kindness. I mean, in the way like how Jesus doesn't hate his enemies the cross sorta defines forgiveness u know?
