 Zsych 2003-07-20 . chapter 3 Very interesting.
I've always thought that Ranma was a whole lot more talented than Ryouga but also much more lazy, in improving his techniques until he was in serious trouble. ANd his honor was almost destroying him. (using the Senken techniques against Saffron would have been far more sensible then his attitude)
A Dark Ranma should all but crush Ryouga... but then again, there is a different teacher issue here.
... the Shampoo situation is interesting. show her POV too... i wonder if she likes her overly strong husband.
... i wonder if a mental technique that allowed Ranma to protect his mind and attack other minds, would be interesting... Delta might have an amusing fate under such circumstances. After all who says that they are unkillable gods.
What does destiny as defined by others really matter to one with power.

Hope to see more soon.
Take Care |
Zsych 2003-07-20 . chapter 3 Well, this is interesting.
Really, i like this story's version of Ranma more than most.
It should be fine so long as Ranma does destroy Ryouga... or just damage him badly, with both not really winning.
Strange that Ranma isn't trying to find a way to destroy the voice within him. Sounds in character to me... would at least be useful as a threat.
The situation with Shampoo is interesting too.
You might want to show her POV. Who knows she may like having an overly strong husband :) |
dogbertcarroll 2003-07-17 . chapter 3Yep, confirmed. They are behaving a lot more like
each other then themselves. I hope you can write
a damn good fight scene. *grin* |
JPalmgren 2003-07-16 . chapter 3 *sighs and begins a minor rant*
So... A naive idiot puppet against an embittered sociopath with issues and a handicap. It is of course only natural that Ranma has become the way he is after having his mind snapped and then having a foreign mind blank half his techniques without his consent for a martial arts match the terms of which he never accepted but was just presented with as a done deal. All for the two inhibiting little idiots to have a nice little game of "who is the most pathetic immature Ranma fanboy with megalomania".
*shrugs*
Dare we hope they both die (or Ryoga could just get lost in disgrace) and the immature idiot pupetteers get the feedback from their death and croak as well. (Theta actually still deserves to get a lot of pain for his role in this shameful affair. A few years of pain and a broken mind could also be a fair payback. There should be consequences for those who would callously play with the lives of others...)
A crippled or dead Ryouga and a Ranma who selfdestructs taking half the R1/2 cast along with him before suicide seems a more likely outcome at the moment unless Ryouga actually kills Ranma using the senken thereby ensuring his own dishonor and sorrow for killing his own 'brother' using what he should not have known. Genma made the senken and has neither accepted Ryouga as a student of anything goes nor has he given him permission to learn or use them. Nor is he a son and heir of Genma unless he says so. Nodoka is actually irrelevant in this and it would be more dishonorable for Ryouga to use them than it would be for Ranma since Ranma has not agreed to the terms of this duel while in a sound mind and is a legitimate student of anything goes and a true son and heir of Genma.
*shrugs and sighs*
Doesn't really matter either way who wins the actual fight at the moment since the terms and circumstances of the match make it all a travesty that should never have happened.
Most depressing. |
Materia-blade 2003-06-19 . chapter 2 I got a question. Is Theta Ranma? It's starting to shape up to look like it. Well this is a great fic. 9/10. Great job. |
Chief316 2003-06-16 . chapter 2 I enjoy the direction of the story, though I'm saddened that it will end at the battle between Ranma and Ryouga. I'm looking forward to the following chapters where hopefully we'll see who Theta and Delta are, though I already have my ideas. |
dogbertcarroll 2003-06-16 . chapter 2Good chapter but confusing. So Ranma is Evil? Mind overloaded and partially destroyed so he became whatever the voice in his head made him?
It kinda seems like future versions of both of them are in each others heads. |
 TerraEpon 2003-06-15 . chapter 2Yes, very interesting...

Ming 2003-05-20 . chapter 1 The concept reminds me of Gary Kleppe's short character piece "Ryoga's Demon", though that was a decidely more malevolent voice in the boy's head. (It can be found at http://w.garykleppe.org/comics.html, if you're interested.)
I don't believe "disgustment" is a word.
Ranma's family name is spelled "Saotome".
Poor Ryoga; it can't be easy having even a benevolent voice in his head, running your life like that. What's he going to do when it finally leaves? He'll probably have forgotten how to make his own decisions.
And poor Ranma! That "Delta" voice must be a real bungler to muck him up like that. Ranma's psyche really doesn't seem to be very fragile - nekophobia notwithstanding.
Nabiki doesn't wear a kimono in hte manga: does this mean the anime is your primary source?
Even at the start of the series, Akane isn't this extreme. Ranma didn't get bonked with the table until after he'd insulted her body, and that was after having seen her in the nude. Ryoga wouldn't get that just for having picked her as a fiancee. She wouldn't like it, sure: she would protest and fume. But she would need a little more excuse than that, I should think. I also doubt that she'd call him a pervert to his face before he actually *did* anything suspicious. Thinking it is another story, but even early Akane is not that bad.
Best of luck with your story! |
Mark Caldera 2003-05-19 . chapter 1 A good introduction to a familiar beginning.
Interesting start for the main love relationship to have Akane paired with Ryoga. However, to open their feelings up to each other might mean that Theta may be able to teach the Lost Boy how to express himself, without fumbling for words or getting a nose bleed at seeing too much flesh. In other words, the voice could help him to grow up emotionally and spiritually. This would give him a definite advantage over Ranma, who is ever stuck as the emotionally scarred kid that was thrown into the pit of cats by Genma.
At first, I thought that it may be a SI or something along the lines of "The Bet" series. The sincerity and humility in Theta's attitude towards his host --after the initial idiot name calling phase-- indicates a being with LOTS of patience and honest caring for what happens to the usually hot-headed guy. I like this tale and I want the nagging questions answered: (1) Why did Theta get into the kid?, (2)When did Genma adopt Hibiki as the second son?, (3)Will the Tendo girls compete amongst themselves to have access/control with/over Saotome-san?, and (4) Does the family honor pact with Ryoga voids any commitment for Ranma with a Tendo?
"Please, sir, I want some more!" Oliver Twist |
dogbertcarroll 2003-05-18 . chapter 1Damn. I'm not exactly sure what is going on. Two fic writers switching off as voices in their heads or future versions of the two coaching them.
Definitely a good fic tho'. |
Rowan Seven 2003-05-16 . chapter 1Fairly interesting. The plot is quite engaging and original (IMO), and the voices add an intriguing mysterious element to the tale. The characterizations are also quite good and contribute a lot to the quality of this story. The upcoming fight also sounds quite exciting. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this story goes. Please keep up the good work. |
Zsych 2003-05-16 . chapter 1 Hm... well, the story is interesting.
Little has happened so far. Too little info on the fight, and the reasons behind it, plus Ranma should have had more screen time for better feedback.
Still...
Ryouga stuck with Akane, interesting situation.
That implies that Ranma gets Kasumi. Cute.
But to consider Ranma's state...
Memories are accessed because they are considered important, the human brain seems to remember just about everything(as can be seen through hypnosis), it's just a matter of filters.
New knowledge just added. Would likely be ignored.
Some new knowledge added, and given priority, but not really linked with the active way of thinking might cause confusion.
Lots of it, and given priority so that it is remembered, but not being in sync with the rest of the persona... would depend on how important the memories are supposed to be. If they are overly important, focus would shift totally to them, too little, and there might be some hope. Somewhere in the middle, would be massive confusion, eventually the sub-conscious mind will likely build a new personality, though how sensible it'll be is debateable.
Even a normal good person, suddenly given access to vast power, is likely to turn into what most would consider evil. After all, we all move according to what we consider a reasonable path for survival(deep down at a sub-conscious level that is). Thus a personlity based around surviving with little power on hand, might not consider most of those limits as applying to the highly empowered state.
Ranma Saotome beast mode! :)
Really a complex issue though. The personality would eventually stablize, after considerable trouble into whatever is acceptable for that power level.
Of course, let's say a person needs no food, can't really be harmed by other people, and can do just about whatever he wants. He may feel no need whatsoever to be nice to others. Much like we don't usually feel any great need to be kind to insects. After all, the little guys are alive too.
A super-person likely would only be fair to other super-people. Of course, he might view lower beings as we view our pets. With a kind, @$#!$#@!#$ attitude :)
Of course, where i think that this would all be generally valid, This is the Ranmaverse. And canon Ranma who was considerably more powerful than other people, and likely could survive without them, still seemed to desperately need them, and care about what they believed. Your Ranma could be that way too(sorta like a man living among ants deciding that he needs to respect them, and especially to respect their queen :) )
Incidentally there should be plenty of techniques available to play with.
I think that japanese techniques might be a little more aggressive than Chinese techniques. Chinese might be broader in range. A combination of Japanese brain, and chinese knowledge might be an interesting creature(most likely an imbalanced one... a people's knowledge incorporates the mind/soul of the people to a certain degree).
So i'd expect Ranma to have techniques like what the amazons, and herb, and Saffron had(including the countless techniques that Cologne likely didn't teach Ranma)
And Ryouga might have stuff like Ninja knowledge, and Genma's forbidden techniques, and Happosai's techniques(and others you could likely find in other anime). Likely a good match on the whole for anything Ranma can do.
Hmm... wonder how Ranma would feel, if he were really powerful for most of his life, never really meeting his equal and then meeting a powerful warrior... probably not gonna happen. Ranma as a kid, would not have had the power(maybe) to fully use the knowledge he had gained.
Meditation would have been very useful for him, incidentally.
Okay... that's enough blabbering.
Have fun.
Hope to see more. |
JPalmgren 2003-05-15 . chapter 1 Good writing so far as SI's go. An interesting twist. (This has the potential to get very out of hand later on if you don't watch out tho'.)
*shrugs*
I'm looking forward to seeing where you will take the story. It can go in almost any direction now... |
 Kinai 2003-05-15 . chapter 1Good story.
I think that you have to explain better why Ryoga come before to the Tendo house and what are the voioces in the heads of Ranma and Ryoga.
I expect that you continue it soon.
