*wiggles happily* I absolutely adore these Laguna-Squal, Father-son relationship/interaction fics. I wish the game had gone more indepth with them. ;^;

Haha, yeah, I know this one shot is about as old as it can get on but I wanted to write a review on it anyway. I think t his is about as good a convo as it could get. I also wondered what they would talk about, and what laguna would have been thinking during that card game, and especially the fact that he had squall's card. You did a really stellar job. I really enjoyed reading this.

What a lovely story! It's so moving because you know what Squall doesn't know- dramatic too- and the use of cards was brilliant. Selphie was hilarious and it was all just so sweet. Hehe, yeah, he really does suck at cards. Great story!

one of the best squall and laguna dynamics i've ever seen. unlike the common idiot father/pissy son cliche, this one gives their relationship so much more depth =) and the characterisation's a lot better, imo.

Very nice. I really like your Squall characterization -- his short sentences, and all the thoughts that go along with them work really well for the character. I really like the interactions here, everyone seems likeable and in-character. On top of that, you give a lot of insight into Squall's relationships with the others. Fantastic.

Haha...that was great. Loved it. I don't usually imagine dialogues during a card game though. All I usually think of are "NO! I'm LOSING! AHH!!" and stuff like that. :D

D'oh! StrengthLove beat me to the punch. :) I like the way you used the card game to break the ice - despite Laguna running at the mouth for most of the game, it was Raine who noted that he couldn't have a serious conversation. My husband says that men tend to have talks while doing something else (i.e. fixing the car.. or playing cards) so your story is very true to form. Very nice. :)

What a nice story and a cool way to integrate the card playing of the game into a story (that's always seemed kind of awkward to me before, but you did that well.) I think you captured the personality of both the characters and as my friend Arafel says, you didn't make Laguna sound like an idiot, but a real person who doesn't quite know how to reveal the true relationship to his son. You get to feel how uncomfortable and also how kind Laguna is. Good job !

This was dull. I have played the game, and it this piece is just dull. I think you managed to remove all the personality the characters had.

Heh, I was rereading this now, and was thinking just how it seemed to sum up everything so well... in a single point in time, it covered the past, the present, and the future... and in spite of your not liking Squall, you hit him pretty dead on, I think. ;) All in a game of cards... :D

Oh, that was so good! I've always wondered what Squall would say when he saw that Laguna had his card..I bet he knew then that he was his father.
Anyway, excellent story.
