One does have to wonder, compared with the other girls who are considerably more physically 'desirable', how Akane manages to grab the attention of the males most of the time :) It has to be the smile! ;D Wouldn't be surprised if that was what ensnared Ranma in the first place. I'd LOVE to see a continuation to this, it screams to me that there's more here!

Quizer 2007-08-15 ch 1,	abuseGreat little oneshot. I wholeheartedly agree, the mallet and the temper are way over-emphasized in fanfic. It doesn't really spoil my enjoyment of stories where Ranma isn't paired with Akane, but it doesn't particularly add to the quality either in most cases. To come up with a new 'cliché' for her, and one so intriguing... good job! I wouldn't mind seeing this bit of Akane-characterization recycled for a larger story. Quizer

I could see Nabiki do something like that; her scheme to end the fights over Ranma. You are also right about Akane's mallet. She only uses it on Ranma, and only inside. Usually she kicks whoever angered her into LEO, and is left standing there in an impossible position, standing straight with her leg perfectly verticle, which shows she's a martial artist.

I'm not so sure how often she uses the smile, but I think the smile you are talking about shows up in the first manga towards the very end. (Not the first nice smile or anything, but the first "that" smile she gave to Ranma.) THAT smile has always amazed me. Good use of it and good writing. I look forward to more of your work!
Baron Hausenpheffer 2005-08-08 ch 1,	abuseInteresting fic! We all know that Akane is "cute when she smiles", but who knew that it had such amazing force? Hahaha! It was a little silly, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was an element of truth in regards to her attractiveness and that smile. There ARE other reasons the other fiancees don't have as many admirers, though: Ukyo (despite her cuteness) does cross-dress fairly often, Shampoo is devoted to the point where it's scary, and Kodachi... speaks for herself. By the way, I agree with your little author note about the mallet and whatnot. I've rarely seen it in the manga, and the only time it was prominent in the anime at all was in Movie 1 (the infamous chase scene at the beginning). Overemphasizing stuff is the nature of fans and their fiction, I suppose. ^_^ Before I forget, I DID have one lone criticism: you yourself pulled an "overemphasis" on Nabiki's coldness/efficiency/ect. She might be great at what she does, but she's only a high school gal, not an aspiring yakuza boss. Again, that's my lone complaint. Whew, this review got long! Oh, well. Congrats on a fic well-written!
