I confess, I read this story because I was so charmed by your nom de plume! The writing is very good, breathless and a little childish in tone, perfect to the situation and the narrator. To me, the social dynamics feel more 18c (or even 17c) than mid-Victorian-- Victorian Britain was full of new money and self-made men, and people were more hung up about character than lineage-- but if we assume that the wizarding world has always been rather old-fashioned, then it works. Nice job!

Lucan/Carus OTP!
I love this bit of prequel; it's wonderful to see a point-of-view besides Julius's.
Speaking of which… any word on chapter five of TWIB?

Oh, how splendid! Carus is my favourite in TWIB and I loved seeing his POV. I hope there will be more about him...

Excellent! I love this series, and this is a great companion story. I like how you subtly explain the whole system of status.

Your writing is exquisite, as always. And I'm still in love with Tamino. Some of my favorite bits were the subtle mention of Albus Dumbledore's sorting, Tamino's noting that the Hat "was a little flat on the high notes," and Marvolo casually munching on the gingerbread.

Most intrigueing. That's all I can really say about your writing. You're a great author. Keep it up. By the way, I like the whole know it all/Ravenclaw thing. I'm a Ravenclaw myself, so I'm obviously a know it all. lol. Anyway, nice little humour thing.

OO, I absolutely adore Carus; I enjoy all your characters' personalities. This flashback is delightful, and the last line is perfect. Looking forward eagerly to an update of Two Worlds and In Between...

Are all the teachers called masters in those days. It doesn't make sense that only a few of the Slytherins would be plebeins. Slytherins are supposed to make up about a quarter of all the students at Hogwarts, and only a small percentage of hogwarts students could have been patricians.
