But if you did know, and your side lost, would all the dead say it was for nothing? That it wouldn't have mattered if they hadn't left their friends and families behind to fight for a good cause, that it wouldn't have made any difference, because they lost the war anyway.

It touched me because Halbarad has been a pet favourite of mine, who always gets short-shrifted. I always imagined that Aragorn, being the lonely person he was would feel keenly Halbarad´s death. So, it was great to see in writing something you always believed one of your favourite characters felt about another. Thank you very much!
