His voice also changes subtly; you can tell that he's older in this one. Some of the folksy charm has muted into formality, but not so much that it seems like a wholly different character. Did you mean to progress him as a character? If this was intentional, it was very deftly done. [Another MEFAwards comment, one I wanted to copy here so other readers would know know how lovely I thought this story was.]
Templa Otmena 2003-12-03 ch 1,	abuseI love Bob! beams You really write fantastically in the first person. It could be so easy for it to go wrong but you do it perfectly. I loveed the line- '...Yonwin was forever beyond me. I realize now that was untrue. He only went before me, and I shall see him again soon.' It's just a nice universal truth and handy to hold on to! I also like the idea that Yonwin's son has taken his place- 'He would be proud that one such as you carries his name, and prouder to still to know that next month you will take your place at the door in service to your King.' The idea that it is only the simple things that matter and how being a door warden and in doing so making someone proud is near as important as being a king. Loved it! Will you be writing anymore fics from Bob? If not please write some more LOTR fics! Yup, you did thank me for 'Close to Home...So Far Away' and it was entirely my pleasure! I hope that all is well or that it will get better. I know what you mean. Books and Movies work but since discovering FanFiction I think that I've found the absolute escapism...of which your fics have played a part, so thank you so much! WRITE MORE LOTR FICS! Take Care!
